We know that Charlie is trying to reactivate the ancient gate, to open the Constant on the threshold of a boundless Abyss, an endless abyss where the "leviathans" swim.
The rifts are something that are literally splitting the sky and the earth of the Constant.
The entities that project themselves into the Constant have a completely alien and unfathomable biology, their body oscillates between this world and another plane of existence.
Before the ancient gate closes, we see an eye that opens onto the Atrium.
Is Charlie aware that the being who has peered into the Avernus will have neither gratitude nor pity for Her?
Because when They return to the Constant, Charlie's kingdom will burn, in an ecstasy of madness and anarchy.

There shud be a Don't Starve ToGetHer theory. Its a great theory game! : r/dontstarve

I think using the stage play as a sort of guide, Charlie has no idea how malicious the shadow Them is.
Like, Charlie was revived by the shadow eye and is trying to repay her gratitude, but I don't think she is aware that the returned favor will be doom for everyone. Especially since in the play, the eye seems to pretend to be so sweet and caring for Charlie.

I think it's pretty much confirmed "them" is called Tenebrau.

So She and Maxwell were abducted into the Constant where Maxwell tried to fight off Them. Charlie, that was manipulated by Them, tried to do something stupid and got killed by Fuelweaver. She got resurrected by Them and somehow got merged with the Ancient Torch Bearer (Matheus?) into a single body known as Shadow Queen. Now she wants to restore the Gateway as a gratitude for "Resurrection". She did it, but Gateway Eye was like: "Hah! Bye!". This is basically what we have so far on the Shadow side.

Kinda confused on why would Torch Bearer be helping Charlie restore The Gateway? Wasn't Torch Bearer an Anti-Gateway, judging by the murals?

I doubt Torch Bearer/Metheus has too much of her own willpower left by now.  If you look at the void mask's play, they seem completely brainwashed.

You're phrasing it like Charlie and the Shadow Eye have conflicting goals, but I don't think this is the case. I think it's entirely reasonable to believe that Charlie wants the Constant to be even more drenched in the shadows than it already is. What else is the point of opening the gateway, recruiting Maxwell, pushing back against the moon?

History and experience teach us that tyrants and masters have neither pity nor gratitude for their subjects.

She isn't human anymore and yet she lurks and watches the little things survivors do in the Constant. I feel like she's stuck in this duality where her human soul tries to stick to what's intact and things that make her happy, while shadow is tugging and pulling to corruption and doom. She's in a limbo, but she somewhat rules over it. Her choice to follow shadows is influenced, even if it's in her peril.
