We don't need more speed items.

How come? What's their reasoning and where can I find it? I have genuinely 0 idea why this would be the case, I'm a console person and I pretty much never ever feel the need to use warbis armor

Because, supposedly, you don't need to switch to a cane between hits to get a speed boost to kite but the truth is that the armor s*cks

As a player who uses magi and walking cane, I don't understand the need for more speed.

But I also think that magi and teleports and even the walking cane are bad because they make the beefalo useless, giving it a specific use only to those who want to do very specific builds like Maxwell or Wendy.

I think it's very sad that beefalos are reduced to rock carriers... they could be so much more, but no one values them, especially the Devs who haven't even given them more skins... not even a new mechanic, race or utility... sad.

They made beefalos feedable while riding, that's VERY huge.

Also, it's really weird to see someone calling beefalos useless, most of the time I see the exact opposite on forums and people actually HATE beefalos because of their usefulness, which is wild to me

Yeah, I use mouse and keyboard, but I forced myself to try the Warbis armor. The HUD seemed too intrusive, the targeting mechanic seemed to fade whenever I wasn't actively hitting the boss, and shadow creatures or any other distraction makes the targeting mechanic frustrating. If I wouldn't put myself through using it again, then I don't see why console players would want it either.

This. But I don’t think I’ve ever seen anyone actually USE this Armor.

Now if it were to be changed into say for example… a Light Weight Electronic Backpack (funny Wagstaff device that shrinks items placed inside)

Then you’d be able to have a backpack+armor+speed boost. Without having to rely on Beefalo.

But as it stands right now: it’s an item Klei added into the game with the intentions of making the game better for console players, an armor that’s too late game to be of any use for any of the fights a console player would want to use it for.

i feel like the opportunity cost of using the wreath would be enough to warrant a 10% speed boost. if youre using the wreath, then youre not using any other head item, which matters a lot more when you start using planar items, as they suddenly dont have the damage buff they normally have. really, the only way i could see this genuinely being a "problem" is if wendy players use it just to travel across the map with a cane and magi, but even then, rider beefalo have existed for so long, so i just cant see it being a problem.

True

But I think that no non-character item combo should be faster than a beefalo, even a combat one...

I think that the way forward is not more speed items, but rather more advertising for our friends Beefalos.

- Beefalos could have more customization.

- Maybe find a way to use the beefalo as a "Companion" in dismounted combat, so that it deals more damage than normal or has even more life, maybe skills, making the use of beefalo more appealing.

- An improved AI, so that they run away when they have less than half their life, they will act like the Koalefant, staying a certain distance from the enemy without hitting (Only for dismounted combat).

- Maybe in the future make interactions with beefalos for each character, just like they are doing with the skill trees, fractionated, 3 characters at a time or something like that.

Wait! Does this mean I won't get dropped off beefalo If I feed it occasionally during taming?

That's exactly right. A single feeding fully resets the buck timer. From 0% tame, you can theoretically ride the beefalo all the way to fully tamed without ever dismounting*.

Having not played Walter yet, this was for me the most transformative addition of the last skill trees update.

That's insane to me because that's something console players do and should be doing, I don't get how that's catered to console tbh

You call it qol, I call it mods. Beefalos are great as they are, the only thing I wish they added is a prerift saddle with dmg reduction, right now only Wigfrid has that

You can take any kind of a hat in your pocket, and then equip it at anytime. How is that "opportunity cost"?

Also, can you name, what exactly are the situations were you don't want to wear WW? It can be armor, night vision, heal, sanity regen... Literally, the better headslots are  end game armors, and still, it remains useful as better moggles.

And again, why do all of you want to buff WW so bad, when there are other, ACTUALLY BAD skills in Wendy's tree. Player ghost one for example.

why do you say it "so bad"?

WW is an interesting concept and gameplay, it deserves to gain a larger share in the gaming experience. but it doesn't provide sufficient reward as reasons for player to use its and exploration depth, buff It will solve this problem simply and quickly.

player ghost damage is fundamentally not an attractive concept. Even buffing to OP won't make it interesting.

Definitely count me on that number. I really think that beefalo are overpowered and over-centralized as a gameplay mechanic; to the point where I don't even bother watching videos involving using beefalo anymore.

The problem is that the beefalo tend to negate a lot of characters' downsides and balancing factors, to the point where you're not even playing the character anymore; you're just playing as the beefalo with some different window dressing. It trivializes encounters, travel, progression, and so many other things. About the only time where I consistently use beefalo are for the Celestial Champion quest, since moving all those pieces super long distances is basically unreasonable otherwise (unless you're Wolfgang).

beefalo is just another tool, most player can tank just as well or even well with armor and healing food, you can outrun them with mag and cane , you also lose a lot of combat ability with beefalo that you normally have if you fight on foot.( soul hops, character specific weapon, traits)

i think beefalo are actually more interesting because they can turn resources that character normally cant use well into health (wormwood, warly)

the only character i see completely get overpowered by beefalo is wes, but thats wes we are talking about

See the thing is it depends on the player your concept of thought being oh you can just have the hat in the background and swap is not something every player will do.
Plus the wreath doesn't have any insulation or weather protection. making the player more susceptible to weather. So you would need to carry around things that would either

sacrifce the wreath slot in this case speed or night vision. Cause those are the 2 that a player would be generally using while the wreath is equipped. to equip an item to deal with the current weather effects.

And also you say it can be all these things but like they are pretty bad versions of all of those?.  Its not good armor because the duration is long if you are bad.
Armor can be insurance but i think the best aspect of it is just being able to tank and get more dps out.
If you do that and want to keep the werath for healing it up its good to have chest armor around.

Theres alot more nuance to playing with the wreath. And because of that it really affects people that play differerently You got to understand that.

The solution of Just do this Doesn't always apply to every player. Because a way a player plays can be different.

if you take off the wreath, you lose the speed buff, even if you put it back on. that sounds like opportunity cost to me

Costs an MG and a honey, lasts a day undisturbed. How often are you planning to swap?

Backpacks aren't worn on the head. Thermal stones aren't impacted by insulation. Glowberries and nightberries for darkness*. So just rain?

*You can also do without the extra speed and use nightshade on the wreath, since you're already paying a cost to swap that.
