Obvious choice for next skill trees

Recommended Posts

So I just wanna make sure everyones on the same page. The next skill trees should definitely be warly, webber, and wx-78. Then the next ones should be wickerbottom, maxwell, and wanda since their characteres have intertwined kits with wicker and max using the same books and wanda and max both negating shadow armor debuff. Like it just makes sense to do those 3 together, plus they all don't need skill trees as much and warly, webber, and wx-78 are all in desperate need for skill trees in comparison. I see a lot of people making suggestions for skill trees for characters like maxwell but I just don't see his skill tree being added anytime soon since they obviously aren't and shouldn't release just skill tree updates back to back to back. the game is also in desperate need for old content reworked and newer endgame content added onto.

I think that might actually be a reason not to put these three in the same update, considering what happened with the most recent one.

(Warly = Walter, Webber = Wortox, and WX-78 = Wendy. To complete the analogy, Wurt is to Webber as Wanda/Winona are to Wortox. I guess WX could also be the Wortox given Woby's new speed, the modular slingshots, etc.)

Thematically, WX-78 could probably be swapped for Wickerbottom. She acts as a teacher to Webber and could have ancient recipes for Warly.

Edit: Considering Wes was forgotten: Warly+Wes (French), Webber+WX (Pronouns Augmented/Overlords), then Max+Wicker+Wanda (Knowlege).

I'd like Warly/Wes, then WX/Webber, and ending with Maxwell/Wicker/Wanda. I think it could be nice~

Or maybe Wicker should go together with one of the other two pairs, to reduce backlash on the Maxwell/Wanda trees, since Wicker is most likely getting a skill tree with more stuff than Maxwell/Wanda are getting.

I think I'm gonna go into hibernation when Maxwell's skill tree drops I don't think I can handle it again because there's no way there won't be another insane level of backlash regardless of what the devs do for his...

i think it was mostly because of 1 character only that.....that the beta forums....turned...."weird"

i would rather it be a 2-tree update and some new content rather than 03 and no content.

some of the characters are fine in their current state, but the game is in desperate need for a change.

i believe this will also put less pressure on the tree teams

I hope not. Maxwell is one of my mains and I am fully prepared for the most boring filler skill tree, as it absolutely should be. Give him like 4 skills called Dapperness I - Dapperness  IV that just increase his passive sanity gain to singleplayer levels. 6 skills for increasing the radius and active timer on his 2 shadow spells.

Heck, I'd even be okay with removing some stuff he currently has and giving it back to him in the form of skills

Webber and warly is my call.

Webber wants perks that makes him less laggy, and drives webber players to naturally gravitate twoards bringing a sane number of spiders.
I propose he even gets bonuses for acting as impromptu pest control to keep server lag down, but I get thats a bit of a controversial choice.
He is mechanically fine solo, but he needs something to drive him to mesh with servers.

Warly would be the other one I would hit. Cause well. He is in a similar spot to where walter was where playing him rights fairly unintuitive and players are strongly driven to want his intuitive way to play to be strong.

After that I'd do Wx and Wickerbottom, because while they are both on life support its also that they still HAVE life support.

Warly and WX-78 are probably the most in need of an update to their abilities. Warly's been left untouched for longer than the grass in the average gamer's lawn, and WX-78 suffers from a massive design flaw in that they're heavily discouraged from circuit-swapping.

Frankly, I think WX-78 should get a skill tree, but they also just need to make circuits not discharge you when you remove them. Like, as part of their base kit, not a perk. It's stupid that they do; it's not like taking a flash drive out of your computer turns it off, and all it does is encourage you to lock into using the same circuits all the time, which essentially means that WX-78 becomes just a fast character with night vision/a light radius for most players since those are the most universally useful. The chorusbox circuit and some of the others would be way more worth it if you could swap to and from them without disproportionate punishment. Like, the circuits already lose a high amount of durability when you swap them - that already makes it a choice to swap to whatever's most relevant instead of something that can be done consequence-free. Losing charge (and having to wait goddamn forever to get it back) just makes it so we never want to swap.

You should still lose charge from getting wet, overheating, and getting too cold, not from basic functionality.

No way. The people who need skill trees the most by far are Warly (who's almost definitely going to be in the next batch with that teaser that Woby won't be the only one with better foraging) and Wickerbottom. Look at everything Wickerbottom does:

  • Innately has +1 science tier, making early game much easier but becoming completely useless later on once you've made prototype stations.
  • Can mass resources and make tentacle traps, both of which you only need to do once so whether or not you're staying as Wickerbottom you won't be utilizing this much.
  • Can start or stop the rain.

That's it. That's the entirety of her character. The only thing she has past the start of the game is toggling rainfall, but if you want to ignore rain you could be someone else like Wurt who does that in addition to other things. People keep complaining about Wickerbottom's books being able to be read by Maxwell and that's stealing "the entirety of her kit", but "the entirety of her kit" is just Practical Rain Rituals!!! She needs to stop being so boring. I love to play as her, but she could be so much more fun if she wasn't just the one-time mass producer who doesn't do anything else. Maybe once she actually does things people will stop pretending like it's a huge problem that Maxwell "makes her redundant" when in actuality she's making herself redundant.

For me obvious peak is Wicker and Warly- they are switch character and that's lame

ya but surely wicker is more usefull than webber regardless of if shes a "switch character". Her grumble books literally allow her to be something akin to a much weaker version of webber having up to 8 bees that deal 15 damage each with an easier setup and shes incredible at farming in all aspect and she works better with other character. Her kit is far better and more versatile than webber and wx-78.

huh? i think your under utilizing wickerbottoms ability to create grumble bees in fights. makes her much better at combat while also being able to easily farm for a lot of resources. also her spiderweb book can absolutely cheese ancient guardian since his stun duration is increased based on how long he is traveling for a charge. also the rain book is incredibly usefull during the summer, specifically if activated before the antlion fight since rain pauses sandstorms which means you wont get slowed or need the desert goggles for the fight, which means you can freely use your football helmet. also the full moon book is incredibly useful since you can create mooncaller staffs anytime you want and you can use it to farm werepigs anytime you want. just her ability to instantly grow crops and and easily use grumble bees in fights makes her much better and versatile throughout the whole game compared to webber and wx-78.

I think that the future skill trees will be 2-3-2, so my guess is Warly-Wx -> Wick,Max,Wanda -> Wes webber, or they will leave maxwell for last again.

i definitely think wes will probably be last or something because he needs a skill tree the least. as he is meant to be bad and niche.

I mean obviously maxwell and wanda are fine, you could make the same statement about wickerbottom although people are unsatisfied since she is a former version of her old self who was incredibly strong. However warly, webber, and wx-78 are definitely in need of some skill trees in comparison. I did state that they shouldn't do back to back skill tree updates and that they should update core elements of the game. like reworking old content and adding on to new content.
