How does anyone feel about the idea of miniature turfs? 4x4 or 9x9 turf tiles miniaturized.

Considering the possibility of increase floor use in more creative ways than having extremely bulky floorings, I wonder if, well, firstly it being possible to have it implemented as well as if anyone ever wanted this sort of feature?

Sometimes I feel like I want to add small detail or some smaller carpets around,as also I don't see this being talked about or asked to happen so I am curious how do people feel about it if it were implemented or if there's a demand for it?

Cult of the Lamb basically has tiny turfs and can customize quite well, I feel like it would be possible to make tinier turfs around in DST as well.

It's decoration. It doesnt need to be practical.

It's certainly not a practical use of development time for decoration. There are significant technical hurdles, and it will likely increase load times for entering the world and swapping shards (which is already intolerably slow for me).

That's mostly cause of many entities tho no? Or a lot of entities and whatever else stuffs the worlds with extra data idk.

I'm unsure how turfs would change things much considering they don't really change anything but floor texture, and smaller floor texture, at least I don't thing, would not affect us overall.

I dunno why it would be a waste of development, considering we have lots of things being made to events, survival, bosses, characters etc. I'm still waiting for docks to have turfing availability.

The entire map's terrain is loaded when you enter. Entities are lazy-loaded. If there's an issue with an entity, the game usually won't crash until you get near one.

Not entirely sure what all of the extra data is, but multiplying the current map data by 16 or 81 certainly won't help.

All of those additions are easier than retrofitting all the systems using the current grid, especially without breaking existing worlds.
