Controversial opinion

The betas should be longer just like this one, and Klei should do the same thing they are doing now.

Prolonging the beta and massively changing characters with player feedback (even if it prolongs the beta).

It makes the update much more polished, gives players stuff that they feel is good, makes them feel heard.

Of course, it shouldn’t be prolonged forever. After many players are satisfied it should end.

The updates don’t need to be on a set schedule, because prolonging the beta would make the schedule invalid. Updates would take longer to make, but they would be insanely polished.

This won't happen correctly. Since it seems Klei's feedback collecting have some problems. Most forumites here are not healthy enough, bias and unfairness is normally here. Beside, we already have many criticize about the "elite club" here, which their viewpoints have a weird superiority and won't consider average players' situation. Additionally, it's obviously Klei do won't make the feedback being democratic, which means "make them feel heard" won't happened in most scenarios.

According all of these problems, I prefer Klei to use more resources to other things but not to waste their time on this DST officially forums.

Personally, it would be enough for me to add a lunar grip so that Walter could buff rounds with lunar affinity using a brightshade helmet and to add the ability to transport graves without headstones.

Then the beta could safely end.

Of course, I would like to add some changes apart from those mentioned above, but these are quite optional.

I've been saying Klei should make updates every 6 months since ages already.

It’s not the same. I’m saying the beta should be longer. If they did updates every 6 months and the beta would be as long as always, it would be literally the same as before.

If the beta is longer, there will be more time to implement complex and interesting mechanics from players, an outsider opinion that sparked joy

I would prefer a lunar band that has the longest range and gives lunar rounds homing.

I think if the betas need that time, like this one did, then im all for it. But sometimes i dont think they always need that long. Some are cooked good on the 2nd or 3rd iteration. Idk, i'm also okay with them revisiting them in conjunction with other updates; Like them coming back to adjusting a bit of Wolfgang's perk list a bit here and there in whatever next content update is

i feel the conversation should not be about the merits of "longer" but instead should be based around "is not hard-set". the betas should not have a fixed end but instead should end at a natural point in the development of the features in it; this would mean no pushing out unfinished stuff to hit the wrap-up date and no adding extra unwanted stuff to fill out the time between the features being finished and the wrap-up date.

Yeah that’s what was in my mind but I wrote it incorrectly! I agree with that 100%

Sadly very true here.

To be honest it wouldn’t be the case if it weren’t for a single character included in this update.

They can’t add all feedback, and they added tons of feedback for Wendy.

if you want the Wendy skilltree to be hugely changed, then my proposition is ideal for you, because they will not have any drawbacks to doing so and will really do it. I don’t see why you wouldn’t agree.

1. No character has any skill like Vengeful Ghost and 4 morning glories to 1 moth.

If your "add feedback" were mostly performing like 4mg - 1moth this way, then don't blame people's dissatisfaction by such trolling design.

2. Go check Wortox and stop think I only care Wendy. I'm Woodie main and I always switch to any other characters in long period world for different playstyle. I won't care few character who I definitely have no interest i.e. Wolfgang.

Was missed 1 argument Im sorry

3. After long time wasted Wendy and Wortox still got not enough correct effort. That makes me thing to delay the beta is simply time wasting

they added the moth after people continuously asked for it though (which to be honest was a non issue since you can plant the trees and the trees produce moths for the sisturn). You are right no other skill tree has a skill that makes it to where other players can clean up their mess if they make a mistake and die.

I honestly thing something a little shorter than update with post release support would be best.
Since, revising any longer than this is going to result in a lot of confusion when almost as much content makes it in as we iterate through and cut. (Not just for us but for them.)

So the process of get the basic idea right->Get the numbers 70% tweaked-> Release->Get the numbers 100% tweaked would be great.

Course the devs are still probably implementing functionality they've mentioned elsewhere between bugfixes, but I imagine that is what has held up this update even further because we've seen a few small promises here and there while they fix up the last large content drop we got.

What surprised me is even he has a bit of his own flavor despite apparently having a bland skill tree.
The fast boat movement and the ability to heavily rely on equipment too heavy for other characters (+ the ability to nerf yourself for a movespeed bonus,) as well as how easy it is to use barbells as grenades without even equipping them can lead to some really unique moments as him. (Plus he is another fast gather rate character like woodie/walter/maxwell.)

I'm not going to say he is #1 for character originality, but he is worth playing/experiencing.

Granted, I don't think every beta should be as long as this one, but longer betas aren't bad either
If this beta didn't get so much feedback, Walter would still only have slingshot skills, and now he's pretty unanimously loved

I think though if Klei wants betas to extend like this in the future that there should be better preparedness for situations like this, I know they weren't expecting it to turn out this way but I hope this beta helps them to learn from this and make more time for future betas

oh, and communication, I think they were put off a lot by the hostility from some of the users on the forum but giving us updates on the direction they want for hotfixes and updates would be extremely helpful in the future, both for the type of feedback we can provide and knowing that our feedback is being acknowledged

Eh, it's more like an aesthetic problem for me.. I don't like his muscles... (Though I knew he could be cute by his character.

I was mean that those 2 skill are too terrible which even makes us feeling offended since their design seems obtained some bad faith.

And that's why I don't agree with the OP opinion - if we would always have the beta in future like current Wendy's and Wortox's situations, I think we better say no and let our devs saving their time from "incorrectly feedback collecting"
