Changes

  • Woby can now assist foraging Lesser Glow Berries.
  • “Woby Here, Woby There” will now take into account travel time and chest interaction times instead of doing the actions instantly even if she was sent to an unloaded area of the map.
  • Added a map icon for Woby, and Walter can see his own Woby’s icon anywhere on the map if she has been set to “Stay” in one spot.
  • Woby’s “Stay” will automatically turn off whenever she is mounted.
  • “Transform” button is always at the bottom-right position of Woby’s command wheel now.
  • Controllers will now always default to Mount/Dismount when opening Woby’s command wheel.
  • Woby’s behaviour toggles are now saved.
  • Slingshot Bands now give a slight boost to projectile speed as well.
  • Slingshot Field Kit is now easier to use:
    • It can now be used on an equipped Slingshot.
    • It can now be used directly, and it will automatically choose your equipped one first, or find one in your inventory if you don’t have one equipped.
  • Nightmare Werepig will now trample through obstacles when running, similar to Scrappy Werepig.
  • Ancient Fuelweaver’s shield and minions cooldowns no longer reset to 5 seconds everytime his aggro is reset.
  • Walter is less likely to drop aggro unexpectedly when using Umbral Dash now.

Bug Fixes

  • Fixed crash when trying to perform Map screen actions, like selecting Woby delivery target.
  • Fixed crash sometimes when loading Red Lanterns spawned during Year of the Depths Worm.
  • Fixed Rictus dropping Lucky Gold Nuggets when despawning.
  • Fixed Dragonfly changing her spawn point when put to sleep, causing her to de-aggro unexpectedly.
  • Fixed Woby’s bag and rack overlapping in the controller inventory screen.
  • Fixed Bull Kelp disappearing when picked up by Woby.
  • Removed colourcube effects from Woby’s meter.
  • Fixed bug where Heal action was not showing up when you had the Give action.
  • Fixed bug where Heal actions on other targets were available while mounted.

A lot of these changes are good, but I think this one is a bit misguided. Previously you could tell Woby to "stay" before entering a boss fight, and then if you get hit and bucked off you could lead the boss away and quickly jump back on. Instead, if the stay command turns off whenever you start riding Woby, that means if you get bucked off ever she WILL constantly try to run far away from you, and be very difficult to get back on. I see the intention for QoL here (I've definitely experienced telling Woby to stay, riding somewhere on her, then forgetting I had her set to stay once I dismounted and accidentally leaving her in an area) but I think it'll make Walter feel worse in more situations than it'll make him feel better.

I feel that may be the point. Harder punishment for getting hit on Woby, now you have to scramble to remount mid-fight.

Yeah, that's how it's supposed to go. I reported this as a bug specifically because it meant you could quickly remount Woby after being bucked off. If that result was intentional, the devs wouldn't have changed it.

If that's the case, I hope they reconsider. It's not really more challenging this way, just slower and clunkier. I didn't have a harder time before realizing I could make Woby stay during fights, there was just a lot more fumbling around if I took a bad hit.

why does Woby have a mount/dismount option on a command wheel now??? Was it not simple enough to just tap B to mount/dismount?? I’m not a fan of navigating menus of on screen huds to do what should be a basic action that you can access as fast as possible.

But since the update has been in Beta for half a year now, I still can’t accurately voice my concerns or frustrations with how uncomfortable it is (or isn’t) with a Console Controller vs Before & After the changes.

I'm guessing this means no more easy AFW for Wortox, the method shown here by Ameslarii is dead?

i love this change actually, no more sitting outside of the atrium and taking potshots at the weaver trying to wedge itself between two pillars. i have to really learn the fight now :chunky::encouragement:

I guess our devs do have some trouble for applying new hotkey options for those "Wheel". Let us wait, I believe our devs already notice this problem and they do working for it.

goodbye dfly speedrun strat, you'll always be remembered for carrying the day 1 dfly club and for being funny as hell

at least this is a massive improvement for regular dfly fights so I'll take it gracefully this time

I did not mean to post in dark bold, I accidentally tapped something and didn’t know how to change it back, it makes it seem like I’m yelling (you never can tell one’s tone with just words) but my question still remains:

Why put Mount/Dismount on a command menu wheel At all??? Shouldn’t that still just Be Tap B and have everything ELSE on the command menu Wheel???

I'd be game if half of Wortox's new kit wasn't locked behind that single fight. I liked it honestly, it was cheesy but pretty damn character specific (because chances are you won't have infinite Lazy Explorers with anyone else early on), now back to fighting AFW as a normal damage character, which is about as fun as making sweet, sweet love to a porcupine.

Yes, pretty sad. But I guess from our devs' viewpoint this is just a cheese as same as AFW's cheese. The only difference is this cheese for dgfl could not disable the boss completely.
