Riddla
I've made a concept for both Wickerbottom and Warly skilltrees in an effort to explore potential ideas for them. Scribbled some crappy drawings for them for the sake of easier readability and to deliver the points across. For Wickerbottom skilltree, I mainly chose a Mage direction, focusing not only on books, but also staves for combat, specializing in setting up devastating combos at the cost of sanity and long casting time. There are some similarities as to how she’s played in the “Forge” gamemode, basically. Warly’s skilltree mostly revolves around ingredient management and increased production, with a few combat perks incorporated that help him in hunting down creatures. That way, players feel much more freedom in experimenting with crockpot more, while having access to other dishes much faster to battle his downside. A lot of numbers were tuned to be high – I had no confidence in balancing, as such skills need to be put to actual practice to see how they truly perform live, not to mention the need to compare things to other characters and existing mechanics (e.g. spell damage versus melee DPS, etc.) Spoiler p.s. Pruinae was a massive inspiration for me to try designing skilltrees, please check out their content: Wickerbottom Potentially, the eye slot in the middle could turn into Shadow/Lunar eye, corresponding to Wickerbottom's alignment choice. Rewrite Apply Feather Pencil to a book to rewrite it. You can change the book’s name, add a bookmark, and also amplify the spells if appropriate skills are selected. The bookmark serves as a way to label your books in your hotbar, so that you easily differentiate between them. (it basically serves as a mental note, so you can for example give a book with empowered properties a Red bookmark) Rough concept art of the interface: Second Edition Learn to grant books "Empowerment" property when rewriting them. You can choose to make your books unleash their effect at higher strength, at the cost of extra sanity. List of books and empowerments they can be granted: Spoiler Applied Silviculture Increase radius by +50% Horticulture (Abridged/Expanded) Grow 10 extra plants The Angler's Survival Guide Spawn 1 additional school Pyrokinetics Explained Increase extinguish radius by 50% Overcoming Arachnophobia Increase web radius by 50% Tempering Temperatures Increase effect radius by 100% Lux Aeterna Increase light radius by +50% Lunar Grimoire Increase full moon duration by 1 night Apicultural Notes Spawn 2 additional bees Everything Encyclopedia Grant an extra Tier bonus, and 100% effect radius On Tentacles Spawn 1 additional tentacle Birds of the World Spawn 10 additional birds Target Audience Learn to grant books "Target" property when rewriting them. Your book will now bring up a targeting circle, which lets you select ground area to aim your spell at. List of books that can target: Spoiler Horticulture Abridged/Expanded Angler's Survival Guide Pyrokinetics Explained Overcoming Arachnophobia Tempering Temperatures Lux Aeterna Redux Apicultural Notes The End is Nigh On Tentacles Birds of the World Creative Control Learn to grant books "Control" property when rewriting them. Allows greater control over your spell outcomes, and ability to change result of some spells. List of books that can be granted control: Spoiler Silviculture Transform trees into a specific chosen growth stage. Horticulture (Abridged/Expanded) Force wild seeds to grow into rare plants. Force wild seeds to grow into weeds. Angler's Survival Guide Spawn only Big fishes. Spawn only Seasonal fishes. Tempering Temperatures Set temperature to 0 Degrees. Set temperature to 70 Degrees. Practical Rain Rituals Start a Rain at a local area, rather than globally. Instantly cause a downpour at a target area, making everything Wet. Lunar Grimoire Set the moon phase to New Moon. Set the moon phase to Half Moon. Apicultural Notes Force bees to fight Aggressively. Force bees to fight Defensively, doing their best to avoid enemy attacks. The End is Nigh Force lightning to prioritize Lesser creatures. Force lightning to prioritize Boss creatures. Force lightning to prioritize all enemy creatures. On Tentacles Force tentacles to prioritize Lesser creatures. Force tentacles to prioritize Boss creatures. Force tentacles to prioritize all enemy creatures. (note: you are still susceptible to being hit if there are no creatures nearby) Birds of the World Spawn only Crows Spawn only Redbirds Spawn only Snowbirds Spawn only Canaries Handbag Craft a Handbag, which stores up to 9 Books inside. (Recipe: 1 Pig Skin, 4 Beefalo Wool, 4 Twigs) The handbag does not use the container animation, and it allows you to read books from inside of it. Beelligerence Friendly Grumble Bees become Enraged whenever Wickerbottom attacks, or gets hurt. Enraged Grumble Bees receive greatly increased movement speed, and deal 5 more Damage per hit. They will also exclusively attack Wickerbottom’s target enemy. Rage will last up to 6 seconds. Apocalypse Casting “The End is Nigh” will cause creatures to panic under the lightning barrage. Can be useful to isolate creatures with herd instincts, where Sleep is not an option. Comfort Zone Lux Aeterna’s light grants Sanity regeneration, insulation, and also blocks out rain at its spot. Provides 10/min Sanity regeneration, 120 Insulation, and acts as a very small Umbralla. Herbarium Learn to craft Herbarium – a spell which consumes plant matter to grow its plants around Wickerbottom. (Recipe: 1 Horticulture Expanded, 2 Papyrus, 1 Feather Pencil) 3 uses, 50 Sanity cost. The book can consume an edible plant, causing it to sprout 6-8 plants of that type from the ground instantly. Such plants however will wilt after being harvested, or when any other action is performed (such as shoveling). For example, right-clicking the book prompts you to consume an edible plant inside your inventory - you click on 1 Petal - afterwards, Wickerbottom reads the book, and causes 6-8 Flowers to sprout around her. Compared to Horticulture, this book does not require any setup, and it allows you to conjure normally inaccessible plants, such as Glowberries, Cacti, etc. The Cycle of Life Learn to craft The Cycle of Life – a spell which consumes a part of a living creature to reconstruct it. (Recipe: 1 Apicultural Notes, 1 On Tentacles, 2 Papyrus, 1 Feather Pencil) 3 uses, 50 Sanity cost. The book can consume mob drops (e.g. beefalo wool, catcoon's tail, etc.) to summon creatures corresponding to the consumed item. Different creatures will spawn in different amounts. For example, right-clicking the book prompts you to consume a mob drop inside your inventory - you click on 1 Beefalo Wool - afterwards, Wickerbottom reads the book, and causes 1 Beefalo to spawn near her. Consuming 1 Frog Legs will summon 5 Frogs around Wickerbottom. Consuming 1 Cat Tail will summon 2 Catcoons around Wickerbottom. And so on. Petrifying Mineralogy Learn to craft Petrifying Mineralogy – a spell, which petrifies nearby trees. (Recipe: 1 Applied Silviculture, 1 The End is Nigh!, 2 Papyrus, 1 Feather Pencil) 3 uses, 33 Sanity cost. Turn nearby trees into their Petrified version. Its cast radius is moderate, equal to Pyrokinetics Explained. Open Mind Wickerbottom gains 20% more Sanity from all sources. This affects all sanity auras, sanity regeneration, and instant sanity sources. Focused Mending Allows Wickerbottom’s books to regenerate durability inside inventory. Repair speed increases the higher her sanity is, and gets doubled when Enlightened. Speed: 1%/30sec – 0%-50% Sanity 1%/22.5sec – 50%-75% Sanity 1%/15sec – 75%-100% Sanity This effect extends to Handbag, if picked. Bookshelves will also get globally sped up if Wickerbottom is present in the world. Lunar Talisman Learn to craft Lunar Talisman, which is fueled by absorbing dead Shadow Creatures. It can be activated while equipped, granting the user Enlightenment. (Recipe: 2 Thulecite, 4 Moon Rocks, 4 Glass Shards) Killing Crawling Horrors will recover 8% Durability, and killing Terrorbeaks will recover 12% Durability of leftmost Lunar Talisman in your inventory. Equipping the Talisman will grant Enlightenment, regenerate your Sanity by 2 per second, and drain Talisman's durability by 1% per second. Lectern Learn to construct a Lectern, allowing Wickerbottom to bestow knowledge upon survivors through teaching. (Recipe: 4 Papyrus, 2 Living Logs, 2 Feather Pencils, 1 Everything Encyclopedia) When interacted with, Wickerbottom can choose a subject for teaching: Phytology, Dendrology, Meteorology, Oceanology, or Marineology. Afterwards, she starts reading a lecture for 16-24 seconds, similarly to how Walter's campfire story functions. She will bring up useful in-game mechanics in slightly cryptic ways. When the lesson is over, survivors are granted a buff for 3 Days, depending on the lecture they've listened to: Phytology: Tilling, planting, harvesting, and talking speed increased by 50% (Wormwood-exclusive effect: Nearby plants will also grow at double speed.) Dendrology: Picking speed increased by 33% Chopping speed increased by 33% Crafting speed increased by 50% Meteorology: Insulation increased by 120 Waterproofness increased by 50%. Heat up and Cool down 50% faster. Oceanology: Rowing speed is increased by 33% Boat actions are performed at 50% extra speed Map Reveal range is increased by 50% while sailing Marineology: Caught fishes are more likely to be Heavy. Increases spawn rate of Big and Seasonal fishes. Reeling strength is increased by 50%. Only one lesson buff can be active at a time. Further teaching replaces the current lesson buff. Homework Sheet Wickerbottom can compose herself to create a Homework Sheet, by applying Papyrus to a Lectern. Use the Homework Sheet to solve a small puzzle, which will boost Lectern’s lesson effects and refresh its duration. Survivors can use the Homework Sheet, which generates a small puzzle for them to solve. Upon solving, they are granted 33 Sanity, the duration of a learned Lesson is reset, and its effects become boosted by 50%. Optionally, a Homework Sheet can be burned to gain 15 Sanity. There can be different types of puzzle. For example, it can give you a small minesweeper: Cram Session Wickerbottom can teach and apply one additional Lectern effect to survivors. Homework sheets will buff both of the lesson effects. Infernomancer Fire Staff can perform a special attack, which conjures a devastating Meteor over target area. When Wickerbottom right-clicks with Fire Staff in her hand, she channels for 2 seconds and causes a Meteor to fall at the targeted area. The meteor deals 200 Damage if it hits a single target, or 100 Damage if it hits two or more targets. On impact, the meteor leaves behind a magma crater, damaging creatures inside for 30 Damage per second, up to 5 seconds. This special attack consumes 25% Durability and 33 Sanity. Shattering Impact Meteor’s impact will deal double damage to Frozen creatures. (Does not increase crater’s damage over time.) Cryomancer Ice Staff can perform a special attack, which impales creatures over target area with glacial spikes. When Wickerbottom right-clicks with Ice Staff in her hand, she channels for 2 seconds and causes Ice Spikes to erupt and impale target area. The spikes deal 200 Damage if they hit a single target, or 100 Damage if they hit two or more targets. All mobs impaled by the spikes are instantly Frozen, regardless of their resistance. (However, creatures will gradually develop resistance and require multiple casts to be frozen, in order to prevent infinite freezing. The resistance will decay over time, just like how Gunpowder Resistance works) This special attack consumes 25% Durability and 33 Sanity. Thermal Shock Ice Spikes will deal double damage to Wet or Burning creatures. Kinetic Charge Every 10th melee strike will double the damage of Fire Staff or Ice Staff’s next special attack. Enlightenment will always activate the skill and cause the bonus damage to be Planar. Increases damage by 200 if the special attack hits a single target, or 100 if it hits multiple targets. The massive number is offset by its conditionality - you have to actively engage in melee combat in order to take advantage of this. Runeweaver While aiming the special attack, Wickerbottom can choose to instead plant a Rune imbued with that spell. The rune acts as a trap that triggers the spell when stepped on. Instead of left-clicking to ordinarily cast the spell, Wickerbottom can Shift+Left-click to plant a Rune, which stores such spellcast on the ground as a trap for creatures to step on. Planting a rune will reduce Wickerbottom’s maximum Sanity by 33, until triggered. Runes do not get any damage bonus from Kinetic Charge. Mystic Savant Amulets and Staves consume 20% less Durability. This effect is shared among nearby survivors. (Does not affect construction/deconstruction) Shadow Conduit Wickerbottom can repair Staves with Nightmare Fuel at varying durability. Fire/Ice staves receive 20% Durability, Telelocator receives 10% Durability, and Star Caller receives 5% Durability. Deconstruction staff is excluded. Affinities Pestis Umbra Conjure local Miasma around Wickerbottom, dealing 20 Planar Damage every 2 seconds, and causing creatures inside to take 15 extra Planar Damage from all sources. The miasma lingers for up to 30 seconds. (Recipe: 4 Pure Horror, 2 Dark Tatters, 2 Papyrus, 1 Feather Pencil) Best combined with rapid attacks, such as when controlling an army of Grumble Bees. Invoke Acid Rain The End is Nigh can be imbued with Nightmare Fuel, causing its next spellcast to call down a local Acid Rain instead of lightning. The Acid Rain will deal 20 Planar Damage every 2 seconds, and last for 30 seconds. The Acid Rain gets empowered if used after casting Pestis Umbra. Reading imbued “The End is Nigh” at the Miasma will consume the miasma and evaporate it, unleashing instead an empowered Acid Rain that deals 80 Planar Damage every 2 seconds for up to 10 seconds. You can avoid the empowered cast by reversing the order of spells: cast imbued TEIN, and then Pestis Umbra. Lux Mortalis Conjure a local Lunar Hail over Wickerbottom, which rains over creatures for 60 Planar Damage per hit. The hail lasts for up to 30 seconds. (Recipe: 4 Pure Brilliance, 2 Brightshade Husk, 2 Papyrus, 1 Feather Pencil) Hits hard, but the hail projectiles drop very randomly. Good against creatures with a chunky hitbox. Invoke Thunderstorm The End is Nigh can be imbued with Moon Shard, causing its next spellcast to call down a local Thunderstorm instead of a lightning barrage. Thunderstorm zaps Wickerbottom's primary target for 50 Planar Damage every 3 seconds, and lasts for 30 seconds. Thunderstorm gets empowered if combined with Lux Mortalis' cast. The lightning will zap the target when Wickerbottom attacks it, which has a cooldown of 3 seconds. Reading imbued “The End is Nigh” under Lunar Hail will consume the hail and supercharge the Thunderstorm, causing its lightning to instead deal 150 Planar Damage and chain up to 6 creatures for 75 Planar Damage. The lightning frequency and duration remains the same. Warly The Reel Deal Significantly improve Warly’s fishing skills. Warly will have dramatically increased reel strength, fish bite chance, and lowered fish resistance when reeling. Net Gain Catch either multiple fishes at once, or a fish full of sea ingredients in its belly. When Ocean Fishing, Warly will always catch either 0-2 extra Fish, or catch a fish with Bloated modifier. Any fish with Bloated modifier will grant one of sea cooking ingredients when you kill it: 1-3 Seaweed 1-3 Stone Fruit 1-3 Barnacles 1-3 Figs Grants two different drops instead of one if the fish is Heavy. (Does not affect pond fishing) Renowned Chef I Portable Crockpot cooking time is decreased by 25%. Discovering new dishes will decrease the time further. Cooking dishes that weren't cooked before in the current world will grant 2.5% decreased cooking time each, up to 90%. Renowned Chef II Gain 15% chance for Portable Crockpot to yield Double dishes, and 5% chance to yield Triple dishes. Discovering new dishes will increase the chances further. Cooking dishes that weren't cooked before in the current world will grant 1% extra chance for portable crockpot to yield two dishes, and 0.5% extra chance to yield three dishes. Ice Cream Stand Deploy a portable Ice Cream Stand, capable of mass producing cheap desserts which quickly expire. (Recipe: 4 Boards, 2 Electric Doodads, 1 Gears, 10 Ice) This ice cream stand is portable, allowing you to carry it around with yourself. Don't ask how. Warly can fill ice cream stand's container with the following materials: Ice, Berries, Honey, Roasted Birchnut, Forget-me-lots, Fruit*, Milk. * "Fruit" means any fruit with strict 1 Fruit food value, so things like: Pomegranate, Watermelon, Banana, Dragonfruit. Cannot be substituted with fruits that have 0.5 Fruit value (so you can't, for example, do 2 Berries in place of a fruit) When the container is filled with the ingredients, the ice cream will be available to be created and taken. The stand uses 1 Ice as its base ingredient to make an ice cream. Afterwards, the ingredients you have in its container can be applied to that Ice to start making different ice creams: 1 Ice: Snow Cone (3 Health, 10 Sanity, 0 Hunger) 1 Berry: Berry Pop (15 Health, 10 Sanity, 12.5 Hunger) 1 Berry, 1 Honey: Caramel Scoop (10 Health, 20 Sanity, 12.5 Hunger) 1 Roasted Birchnut, 1 Honey: Chocolate Hazelnut (15 Health, 15 Sanity, 12.5 Hunger) 1 Forget-me-lots: Lavender Cream (15 Health, 33 Sanity, 12.5 Hunger) 1 Fruit: Tropical Popsicle (30 Health, 15 Sanity, 12.5 Hunger) 1 Roasted Birchnut, 1 Fruit, 1 Honey: Triple Scoop (40 Health, 33 Sanity, 25 Hunger) 1 Roasted Birchnut, 1 Fruit, 1 Milk: Sundae (60 Health, 50 Sanity, 37.5 Hunger) All of the ice creams above spoil catastrophically fast, in 1 Day. Ice Creams have doubled Food Memory timer for Warly. This is mainly a team-based perk. The survivors can interact with the Ice Cream Stand to open up a menu that lets them pick an ice cream to make. When they select an ice cream and press "Order!", the ingredients in its container get consumed, and the survivor receives the ice cream. Options become grayed out if ingredients are unavailable. Only Warly can activate the stand and restock it with ingredients. Inside the stand's container, Ice will not perish, but everything else will at x2 slower spoilage. Chef's Knife Learn to craft a Chef’s Knife, which can be used to cut meat, vegetables, and butter into pieces. Living creatures will take extra damage from the Knife, and may drop more of their meat. (Recipe: 3 Flint, 2 Twigs; has 100 Durability) The knife deals 34 Damage to non-living things, and deals 51 Damage to living creatures. Killing creatures with the knife has 50% chance to multiply its meat drops by x1.5, rounded up. (e.g. a Spider may drop 2 Monster Meat instead of 1 Monster Meat, a Beefalo may drop 6 Meat instead of 4 Meat) The knife can be applied to a Meat/Vegetable/Butter to chop it: 1 Vegetable -> 3 Chopped Vegetables 1 Meat -> 3 Morsels (Fish Meat will grant Fish Morsels) 1 Butter -> 2 Butter Cubes Chopped Vegetables act as 1 Vegetable value in crockpot. Butter Cubes act as 1 Dairy value in crockpot. Regardless of what vegetable you chop, it will always yield "Chopped Vegetables" as a universal vegetable ingredient. Avoid chopping if you want to cook dishes that require specific vegetables. Extraction Cutting meat will occasionally yield 1 Butter or 1-2 Bone Shards. Cutting vegetables will yield their Crop Seed. Butter is obtained at 33% chance, and Bone Shards are obtained at 50% chance. Cured Meat Combine Nitre or Salt with 3 Monster Meat to cure the meat, making it safe for consumption and cooking in crockpot. Restores freshness. Simply converts 3 Monster Meat into 3 Meat for 1 Nitre or 1 Salt Crystal. Alluring Scent Feeding a crockpot dish to a Pigman recruits 2 extra nearby pigmen and maximizes their loyalty time. Spice effects are spread out to them as well. Bolstered Hambition Pigmen fed with a crockpot dish will stick to you no matter the time of day, regenerate Health, and gain double effectiveness from Spices. The Health regeneration is equal to 8 HP / 5 sec. Pigmen will ignore Dusk/Night and stop running away. Boundless Gratitude Occasionally, Pigmen fed with a crockpot dish will bring gifts to Warly. They will also attempt to catch a Fish at nearby Ponds and dangerously harvest Honey from Beehives. The cooldown for each gift is 4 minutes. Ponds/Beehives gain a 2 minute cooldown when a Pigman harvests food from it. Pigs harvest 2-3 Honey from a wild beehive they see, agitating the bees as a consequence. List of the gifts a Pigman can give to Warly: 1 Carrot 1 Large Meat (Meat or Monster Meat) 1 Small Meat (Morsel, Drumstick, Bat Wing, or Frog Legs) 1 Mushroom (Red, Green, or Blue) 1 Butterfly 1 Berry (Standard, or Juicy) 1 Gold (Lower chance) 1 Tallbird Egg 1 Random Trinket Entangling Net Learn to craft Entangling Nets, which can be thrown to immobilize lesser creatures for 12 seconds. (Recipe: 1 Rope, 3 Silk - yields 6 Nets) Roots a creature for 12 seconds, stopping them in place. Bosses are immune to this root. However, they’ll get staggered, which disrupts their attack animation – this effect has a cooldown of 8 seconds. Can also be tossed into ocean to tangle up fishes, but requires you to sail up to the filled net afterwards. Pot o' Honey Learn to craft Pot o' Honey, which can be thrown to splash the ground with a small honey puddle, slowing down multiple creatures on contact. (Recipe: 4 Honey, 2 Silk, 1 Cut Stone – yields 6 Pots) Can be tossed directly at creatures to splash them, or tossed at the ground to leave behind a small puddle that lasts for 30 seconds. The movement slowdown has lesser effect on Bosses. Agitates bees from distance to attack the target, if present. Improvised Traps Learn to craft Traps, Bird Traps, and Tooth Traps more efficiently. Trap: 2 Twigs, 6 Grass -> 1 Twig, 3 Grass Bird Trap: 3 Twigs, 4 Silk -> 1 Twig, 2 Silk Tooth Trap: 1 Log, 1 Rope, 1 Hound Tooth -> Yields 2 Traps per craft Imitation Bait Learn to craft Imitation Bait - a cheap bait that can be used to lure creatures into traps. Additionally, learn to bait Tooth Traps. (Recipe: 1 Honey, 1 Berries, 1 Monster Meat - yields 10 Imitation Baits) Can be used to put down fake food inside traps to attract creatures. Bear Trap Sharpen existing Tooth Traps with Flint, causing them to deal 40 extra Damage and immobilize a creature for 12 seconds. Sharpening grants the trap 10 extra uses, and the effect lasts until the trap breaks. Boss creatures are immune to the immobilize effect. Sugar Syrup Learn to craft Sugar Syrup, which can be applied to a Beebox to double its Honey production for 10 Days. (Recipe: 6 Honey, 2 Ice) Pollen Patty Learn to craft a Pollen Patty, which can be applied to a Beebox to cause bees to generate Honey inside when it's late and when it's Winter. Lasts 10 days. (Recipe: 2 Sugar Syrup, 4 Petals) During Dusk/Night, and during Winter, the Beebox will keep generating Honey, at a rate of 1 Honey every 2 minutes. Order Tickets Learn to craft Order Tickets, which can be dragged and right-clicked on food to generate a random recipe out of that food and put it up as an Active Order. Cooking that order will yield a dish with increased stat restoration. Recipe Cards can also be used to put them up as an Active Order. (Recipe: 1 Papyrus, yields 2 Order Tickets) Warly enters the Constant with 4 Order Tickets. Warly can apply an Order Ticket to an ingredient to generate a ticket UI with a random recipe correlated to the ingredient, which requires random ingredients to cook. Cooking the dish precisely with the requested ingredients will increase the stats of that dish by 33%, and the ticket gets erased for that dish. For example: You apply Order Ticket to a Potato. A ticket UI appears, which shows a random generated recipe for Fancy Spiralled Tubers - it asks you to cook it with 1 Potato, 1 Twig, 1 Berry, 1 Ice. After you cook it with the ingredients it asked, you receive "Fancy Spiralled Tubers" with Artisan's modifier - it will restore 33% more stats when you eat it. Applying an Order Ticket to Warly himself will instead generate a random recipe that Warly hasn’t eaten before in the current world. Warly also gains the ability to “consume” a Recipe Card to turn it into an active order, gaining a ticket UI as well with the crockpot recipe instruction. The amount of active orders Warly can have is unlimited, and they last indefinitely. A sleep paralysis demon for restaurant industry workers. Bottomless Crockpot Portable Crockpot can now carry up to 9 Crockpot Dishes with itself, slowing down their Spoilage by x2. Master Chef Portable Crockpots will always yield dishes with 100% freshness and return 1 random ingredient after cooking. Pickling Bottle Learn to craft a Pickling Bottle, which can be used to preserve a raw stack of ingredients. Food inside Pickling Bottle will spoil 4 times slower. (Recipe: 1 Bottle, 2 Salt Crystals, 2 Seaweeds) Basically, this is a portable Salt Box for 1 ingredient type. Can later be filled with Icker Goop to conserve an ingredient indefinitely. Enriched Soil Learn to craft Enriched Soil, which can be applied to a farm plot to double crop and seed yield for up to 10 plants. Can also be applied to other plants. (Recipe: 4 Compost, 4 Red Mushrooms, 1 Super Growth Formula - yields 4 Enriched Soils) (the bottle gets returned after crafting) Applying Enriched Soil to a farm plot will enrichen it, causing grown plants to yield double food and seeds. Can be applied at any growth stage - the plant will 'consume' the boost only when it finishes growing and yields the crop. Also affects other plants like Berry Bushes. Spicemaster Produce 1-2 extra spices upon grinding. Spice effects last twice as long on Warly. Wild Vegetables Allow patches of wild vegetables to sprout throughout the Constant. Different crops will grow in different biomes. When Warly enters the world with this skill, Wild Vegetable patches instantly sprout in random parts of the world. The world grows one patch for all types of vegetables/fruit. Each vegetable/fruit type will receive one patch of 4-6 vegetables. Those vegetables grant 1 Crop, but no seeds. These vegetable patches never rot. A new random patch of vegetables will sprout in the Constant every 4 Days, if at least one patch has been fully harvested. (Vegetable type cycles, so the same one can’t be repeated until the list is exhausted) Location of vegetable/fruit patches: Forest: Pomegranate, Asparagus Grasslands: Pepper, Eggplant Marsh: Durian Rockyland: Garlic, Tomato Savanna: Corn, Potato Desert: Dragonfruit Deciduous Forest: Pumpkin If another Warly joins the server with this skill, it won’t instantly spawn patches for each vegetable type. However, the skill’s ability to sprout a random vegetable patch every 4 Days will stack. (for example, if 3 Warlies have this skill unlocked, then the Constant will grow 3 random vegetable patches every 4 Days, and if there are 6 Warlies with this skill – 6 patches will grow, etc.) Feed Grain Learn to craft Feed Grain, which can be used to feed a Volt Goat to befriend it. The goat will grant 1-2 Electric Milk, and harmlessly shed 1 Volt Goat Horn. (Recipe: 3 Toasted Seeds, 3 Cooked Birchnuts, and 6 Cut Grass) The horns regrow after 6-10 days, and the goat will also follow you around for a little while. It wants more. Affinities Black Pepper Learn to make Black Pepper, which can be used to season dishes, or can be thrown at creatures. As a seasoning, it will grant a boost to Planar Damage and Defense. As a thrown projectile, it will burst into a cloud, which deals 10 Planar Damager per second. The cloud's damage increases by 2.5 per Warly's melee strike, up to 35 Planar Damage per second. (Recipe: 1 Pure Horror + 2 Pepper, yields 4 Black Pepper Powder) The cloud lasts for 30 seconds, and its bonus damage decays every 2 seconds. Dishes seasoned with this spice will grant 15 more Planar damage and 10 more Planar Defense for 4 minutes. Additionally, learn to brew Black Coffee in Portable Crockpot. Spoiler Black Coffee will grant alertness and movement speed bonus for 30 seconds, but you'll become Drowsy afterwards for 6 seconds. Don't get addicted! Crockpot Recipe: 1 Nightmare Fuel, 1 Ice, 1 Cooked Birchnut (+edible fillers) Yields 1 Black Coffee. Grants -10 Sanity, 0 Health, and 0 Hunger. Spoils in 3 days. Gain +30% Movement Speed, and Drowsiness immunity for 30 seconds. After 30 seconds, become Drowsy for 6 seconds. Drinking more Coffee while under Coffee’s effect, or when you're still Drowsy from Coffee will extend the Coffee's boost by 20 seconds, but prolong post-effect drowsiness by 3 more seconds. Third usage in a row will prolong Coffee's boost by 10 seconds, and prolong post-effect drowsiness by 3 more seconds. Fourth usage in a row and so on will no longer grant any effects, until Coffee’s drowsiness runs out. Drinking 3 Coffees in a row will grant you up to 60 seconds of buffs, and 12 seconds of Drowsiness after the effects run out. White Pepper Learn to make White Pepper, which can be used to season dishes, or can be thrown at creatures. As a seasoning, it will grant a boost to Planar Damage and Defense. As a thrown projectile, it will burst into a cloud, which causes melee attacks to spread 50% of Warly's damage to creatures inside the cloud. (Recipe: 1 Pure Brilliance + 2 Pepper, yields 4 White Pepper Powder) The cloud lasts for 30 seconds, and the spread out damage will always be Planar. Dishes seasoned with this spice will grant 15 more Planar damage and 10 more Planar Defense for 4 minutes. Additionally, learn to bake a Dream Pie in Portable Crockpot. Spoiler Dream Pie will sate you so much, that it will knock you unconscious, causing you to regenerate your stats while you sleep. The longer you sleep, the more energetic you feel afterwards, granting you a Movement Speed bonus. Crockpot Recipe: 1 Moon Shroom, 1 Pumpkin, 1 Egg, 1 Vegetable filler Yields 1 Dream Pie Grants 15 Sanity, 8 Health, and 150 Hunger. Spoils in 15 days. Eating the pie will knock you out and cause you to fall asleep, draining your hunger by 1/sec, and regenerating your Sanity by 1/sec and your Health by 2/sec - similarly as to how you'd sleep in a Tent. For each second you've spent sleeping, you gain 2 seconds of +30% Movement Speed boost upon waking up. This type of sleep is unrestricted, meaning you can force yourself asleep in the middle of danger or during any time of day. You can wake up from the sleep any time by clicking on the ground. (As an insurance, you can't wake up within first 2 seconds, in case you accidentally click). Pruinae
I will start by appreciating some of the perk names. "Target Audience", "Creative Control", "Beelligerence", "Comfort Zone", "Open Mind" "Cram Session", "Pestis Umbra" ,"Lux Mortalis" for Wickerbottom; and "The Reel Deal", "Alluring Scent", "Bolstered Hambition", "Boudless Gratitude" for Warly. hihihihihi, my favorite is "The Reel Deal" Your art is great!!! In both concepts I made, I ran into the problem of making perk icons too detailed; when I downsized them to make them fit into the actual perk icon size, some ended up not looking good, or being hard to understand (You'd think I would learn the first time!!). So I think the amount of detail you put in your perk icons is perfect, the UI concepts are amazing, everything just looks good in general lmao (Wicker poking out from the top of the lectern gives me life, it's soooo good xDD). I love your Wickerbottom concept: customizing books, spell combos, lectern (thinking of burning homework gave me sanity IRL). I personally don't see Wicker as the mage type (with staffs and such), to me she is more sage-y. But if the skill tree came just like this I wouldn't be too bothered. The only thing I felt is missing is a way to instant cast books, specifically Sleepytime Stories and Overcoming Arachnophobia; I feel like those two would benefit the most from being used reactively, which is something I think Wicker needs more of (you did give perk ideas that can be used reactively, but in my Wicker fantasy I get to put the Shadow Splumonkeys to sleep with the book I brought for the occasion >:(). As for Warly, everything I read just told me I would get more food out of my food and I like it. "Master Chef" would be a must have for me, I NEED THE FOOD TO COME OUT WITH THE ENTIRE BACKGROUND GREEN OR IT IS WORTHLESS. Whatever Klei cooks for Warly's skill tree, I really hope they add a way to farm Butter and Milk (well, fixing the swap character-iness comes first but still). MA7xGE
Amazing work! I have found these two characters quite challenging when pondering about their upcoming skill trees. I hope these aid Klei with their design work. Honestly replicating the game's artstyle feels so difficult at times, i mostly resorted to playing around with lineweight ^^; I love much more how clean and sharp your artstyle is, it massively gives professional vibes and feels like it's made officially for the game 9 hours ago, Pruinae said: I personally don't see Wicker as the mage type (with staffs and such), to me she is more sage-y. That's completely fair! I steered into that direction because of how addicted i was to playing her in Forge, and i fell in love with her combat style and how much risk vs reward it provides, so the long casting time grew on me since it encourages positioning and tactics to reap those powerful effects Partially I feel like instant magic effects should be reserved for Maxwell, and proactive magic effects should be Wicker's thing, so its sorta like choosing between a quick & dynamic caster for moderate payoff, and a slow & powerful caster for much bigger payoff, giving Wickerbottom some leeway in setting up area full of damaging stuff and calculating next moves to blow things to pieces :B (though tbf Maxwell's shadow trap is proactive, so im kinda torn on this lol) Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/164287-wickerbottom-warly-skilltree-attempts/#findComment-1800272 Share on other sites

Mysterious box
On 2/20/2025 at 3:08 PM, Riddla said: Wild Vegetables Allow patches of wild vegetables to sprout throughout the Constant. Different crops will grow in different biomes. When Warly enters the world with this skill, Wild Vegetable patches instantly sprout in random parts of the world. The world grows one patch for all types of vegetables/fruit. Each vegetable/fruit type will receive one patch of 4-6 vegetables, which grant 1 Crop and no seeds. (for example, if 3 Warlies have this skill unlocked, then the Constant will grow 3 random vegetable patches every 4 Days, and if there are 6 Warlies with this skill – 6 patches will grow, etc.) Klei write that down WRITE THAT DOWN! Seriously as unlikely as it is that they make a skill like this it would definitely get me playing Warly and exploring. xhyom
If Klei makes a tree at least 1/3 of what you did it will possibly be the best trees in the entire game, I'm amazed. Seriously they could just release it this way and change just a few numbers after some testing and it would be more than perfect. It raised my expected standards for both of them lol Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/164287-wickerbottom-warly-skilltree-attempts/#findComment-1800693 Share on other sites
Opallll
I unfortunately haven’t gotten around to playing Warly nor Wickerbottom yet, but the attention to detail regarding their mechanics and playstyles for their skill tree concepts is astounding. I particularly love Warly’s food related skills as it’d incentivise players to stay playing rather than switching off him after making his dishes via the celestial portal. The QoL skills for farming and harvesting volt goat horns are also particularly appealing, I usually use self fertilising combos however being able to farm more efficiently is great for mass producing ingredients for crock pots given his diet restrictions (this can likely synergise really well with Wormwood as someone who’s played 300+ days as him). Wickerbottom expanding her magic skills and becoming a mage type character is also thematically fitting for someone who uses knowledge to fight and survive rather than sheer force. The skills for team setting are also great. Overall, I can tell you either have experience or just very extensive game knowledge on these two survivors and these trees would both improve existing perks and add more to make these survivors more engaging to play! Riddla
I will bump this thread just once so that more people can take a look at the stuff. Feel free to experiment with those in your own projects. I've done slight adjustments to the post (mostly was irked at how i misaligned the icons in skilltree designs aughughugh), but changes aren't too major - moved away Black Coffee skill from dairy branch and put it into Shadow Alignment cause it very awkwardly sat in the midst of two skills revolving around sweets, and overall buffed some Warly skills so that they compete amongst eachother better Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/164287-wickerbottom-warly-skilltree-attempts/#findComment-1802886 Share on other sites
