Moleworm hate thread.

The title is approximately half a joke. What I'm actually here to talk about is how these thieving subterranean scumbags steal every scrap of flint seconds into the first day. It makes the early-game flint economy suffer, particularly on dedicated servers, because you can be running towards flint only to get it snatched by a star-nosed swindler before you can grab it and make a pickaxe with it. Not as big of a problem in solo, but it can be annoying.

Maybe we could get a one-day delay on initial moleworm spawning in the biomes nearest to spawn (so, not birchnut forest, as a way to let WX-78s still speedrun night vision)? I'm not gonna pretend they're completely without their uses - some people like moggles, and you can also set up a decent morsel farm if you just relocate a bunch of them to a bait pen with a rock in it. But, that's stuff you won't really be doing on the first day, usually.

Feel free to either discuss that or share negative moleworm experiences. Or, hell, defend the stone-slurping scamps if that's your inclination. I don't make the rules.

I will forever hold a grudge against moleworms because of the day that I learned they can trigger gunpowder by eating it.

I saw a gunpowder boon and figured I'd go over and grab it. A moleworm was approaching it at the same time, so I thought I should be quick to get it before it does. We grabbed it at almost the same time, which meant that it exploded right next to me, which killed me.

Why not just kill them and also dig their nest? have you considered that?

Yeah, but I was talking about new world/new join into a server conditions. As in, you're trying to find flint to get a pickaxe. Can't make a shovel if you don't have flint for a pickaxe, can you?

That doesn't mean I can't blame an unthinking mob in a video game for the funny consequences of my ignorance of obscure mechanics.
