inb4 people confounding "this is an intended mechanic" with "this was added to the game from the very beginning in 2014 with the explicit intention that everyone would do this 100% of the time"

I actually didn't know that but if it was intended or not i am still in my point and klei should fixed it 

1 either klei make sure other weapons with different attacking speed have the same % dps increase from animation canceling so some weapons will not be in unfair disadvantage and they should make it look more official

or

2 to remove this mechanic because it can ruin the game balance and it brings some problems to the game

Ah it's already acknowledged and accepted back in 2020 so now it's part of the game, the dev can consider this mechanic when designing something or maybe just ignore it entirely. Tho, considering it could make bigger gap between the user and the non-user - Using it is totally not cheating but who cares? Damage is damage. :wilsoalmostangelic:

Sure, nothing bad would come out of fixing exploits and glitches

People would get over it, just how they got over new farming and how it nerfed Wicker's horticulture. Or how they got over new crafting menu, AG rework and removing lureplant glitch from AF

the crafting menu was genuinely horrible on release, people didn't "get over it", it was fixed and improved because of all the feedback, this isn't a case of people complaining about something new and then stopping after getting used to it

in what way does it affect the "balance" of the game that some people can get an extra hit or two when kiting any more than optimizing kiting without anim cancelling does

You didn’t understand my point I said if it was intended this way it’s unbalanced because a lot of other methods and weapons might not deal the right amount of damage that they should compared to other weapons either they fix this or remove this mechanic

I can't really think of anything that really fits this description beyond:
-beefalo, but they only attack a couple frames slower than melee weapons anyway
-whips, which are perfectly balanced in the context of anim cancelling as they are much harder to get 0.4 with than regular melee weapons, this doesn't need to be changed
-bare fists (you don't care about this)
