Is there a chance the howlitzer could be buffed to hold 2-3 stacks of hounds teeth instead of just 1?

Title, pretty much.

Since Walter got an adjustment for all of his rounds to hold double the amount of pellets per slot and he has slingshot frames that both allow him to hold 2 slots of rounds and an infinite stack in one slot, It makes me wish the howlitzer had something similar for holding hounds teeth. I don't want it to be infinite since Walter holding that spotlight is fair to me, but I do wish it had extra slots so it could hold more innately to compete with the gloomerang a bit more, especially since it's locked to spark arcs.

I don't personally have any other changes, it really is just holding/carrying the ammo that isn't very fun, especially when a gloomerang is exponentially more efficient for ranged combat than carrying around a howlitzer and a stack of hounds teeth.

Despite thinking that would be an awesome Idea. I think it could be kinda overpowered having "infinite" slots for the howitzer. I think extra slots are better for balance issues.

Hound teeth after some time only ends up piled up and unused (aside from repair kits), especially with hound waves still going on.

Depends, of course. One time I got at least 5-6 teeth from a late game-wise (100+ days) world. Even so, sometimes those waves are buggy and you can get 2 waves in one go.

In my main world (3k+ days), I set up a Varg farm, get tons of teeth and then kill it when I feel like it's more than enough. I reckon it's getting up to 2k+ teeth (possibly even getting up to 3k) right now, including those from regular hound waves.

For most people, we could be talking a few stacks. But given the (albeit little) amount of information we have on Maxwil's world, which is 18K+ days old now, I'd say in the ballpark somewhere over 10K

If you have a varg farm howlitzer makes sense. 12 teeth every so often doesn't

Few stacks won't even kill a boss off top of head, isnt that about a dark sword worth of damage?

10k hounds teeth will kill a lot

I never get the thing because my worlds tend to get to the "few stacks of teeth" level

You would need 100 hounds teeth to deal 1 dark swords worth of damage, yes. This is why I wanted it to have more slots for ammo, because unless you have a bunch of hounds teeth stacks by bosses (which isn’t very fun to lug around, either…) it is extremely impractical to carry around hounds teeth. For comparison, a brightshade sword with 10 kits and without the helm would need a full howlitzer and 54 stacks (or 2160) of hounds teeth to do the same amount of damage.

~120 teeth seems like a go to ballpark that would help the weapon be more comparable to the gooomerang in terms of ranged effectiveness outside of boss fights, since at the moment I really only use the weapon for aggro while the gloomerang can be used for that and also just a decent weapon in general.

Gonna bump this up again, mainly since I notice it a lot when using the Howlitzer for anything that isn’t a hound attack, and I still feel it would be a positive addition that shouldn’t render the slingshot/gloomerang “worse” options given that the former can quickly amass lots of cheap ammo (especially with its recent buffs to attack rate), and the gloomerang has the luxury of being repairable with repair kits.

you settle for far too less in my opinion. 80 teeth is still rather low especially when our inventories can still only support 40 at a time.

Elastispacer is the key here. It's all right there and setup waiting to be used, costing klei very little effort.

I am NECROING bringing back this thread in hopes for this to be looked into, especially after playing Walter for a bit and how much nicer it feels when you don’t feel the low stack items is the main concern when using a ranged option and how bad the howlitzer feels to use because it has 40 stack limits. I still don’t feel it has to be infinite, but any increase to the capacity it can hold would be greatly appreciated.
