Basically, up until now, most of the characters have been considered "weak" as far as the game goes, while Wendy is considered "strong"

So they're intentionally designing her to be less powerful than the other characters thus far, and we'll probably see more similar things for the remaining "strong" characters, like Maxwell, Wickerbottom, etc. This itself isn't a problem.

The problem is, they were far, far too overcautious with this. so many of her skills are completely unviable due to being excessively weak, and a lot of the skills don't actually fix the significant problems she does have. While Wendy is the most popular character in the game, she's far from the strongest too, which makes me unsure about how they'll handle the actual top tiers.

They've said they're open to buffing her, so I just hope they listen to the pretty clear feedback.

This is the single most harmful statement you could make when attempting improve Wendy.

1. it's threatening the devs which could lead to distaste for the character.

2. It's encouraging bad behavior which could scare them away from listening to your demands based on the potential for the backlash echoing back to previous characters and forward to future ones.

I just hope they'll get another hotfix out before the weekend showing movement in the right direction.

I won't have access to the Beta/ Maybe the forums for a significant portion of the Beta so I'd hope her skill tree is in a siginificantly before that.

Ignore all the insults and arguments (which are against the forum guidelines by the way..) The real reason Wendy can’t get any new useful skills is because a certain side of the fanbase has tricked Klei into thinking she is OP and Busted.

When the actual Reality of that is- She’s just.. not??

I could go into a long and highly exhaustive post about how Wurt got really crazy perks even things that Klei probably don’t even remember giving to her like for example: Complete and total immunity to being attacked not just by frogs, but also Moonblight frogs as well.

Pair this with her Stronggrip where tools never slip out her inventory in addition to her Merm army, armory, assigned tasks etc.. and Wurt is an incredibly strong character pick, arguably even moreso than Wendy ever dreamed of Being.

The Immunity to frog attacks alongside her wetness armor and tool rain slip preventative strong grip makes Wurt the one character I would NOT want to PvP against in spring..

As she stands right now, Wendy only excels at the ONE job she was intended to do, while other characters (including Willow) got a fun perk blend of new things they could do..

Now Willow Players can actually use fire in combat without fear of accidentally burning down an Entire village.

Wendy needs some fun perks too, and we can’t just say “she’s a strong pick already”

Thats how we ended up with Wigfrids rework being quote “fine as is” and we had to pitch a complete fit for her Justice that she wasn’t given until she got a skill tree to give her abilities that in all honesty, probably should had been part of her base character kit to begin with.

Unfortunately, I’m just one voice in an Echochamber of others where the loudest group is the one that gets most recognized & if Klei feels Wendy is too Op, then her skill tree will be too basic and not full of fun new tools and gameplay to enjoy.

I trust them though, the guys and gals at Klei always deliver in the long run so I’ll let them cook up some really good stuffs

Not just for Wendy though.. I’d like to see each of the characters truly having different fun things that, not only make them more fun to play as.. but also give the character itself a more defined personality that says “This is who this character is”

And for me, I’ve always looked at their official Art, animated Cinematic's etc, to try and get a better grasp on what the characters identity and personalities are like.

TL:DR- IF DST was an Animated Netflix TV Series, Klei could give the characters defining traits and personalities that could later transfer over into actually playing as them in game.

(Ps this May or may not be a plug for Netflix Animated Series )

First of all this is a beta, a lot will change, secondly, did klei do something that bad? They simply didn't make her skill tree OP but that's about it, i don't understand why people should protest about it, it's not like in Clash royale, klei is not actively trying to destroy their game.

i think wilson's skill tree needs a fix too, but... think about it, they want it to be noob friendly, so torches are something used by noobies.

The problem still arises imo, because when i was new to the game i was able to craft a lantern anyway, so i think it's still useless for them, but i can see klei's point of view.

These are the people who Klei listens to. They ignore years of constructive community feedback about issues the game has, but when a bunch of angry trolls come in to brigade and spam nonsensical insults with LITERALLY NO ACTUAL FEEDBACK AT ALL Klei listens to them and just buffs the crap out of Wendy.
