mega bases

Its so crazy seeing people make mega-bases and have like HUNDREDS of days in their don't starve world while I can barely make it to day 20 like holy fart dude how are you doing that

Having enough spare time and lacking attention span to anything else in life

Well, most megabase players usually have adapted to most of the survival aspects of the game. Once you can get comftrable with surviving, you are usually able to progressively optimize to the point you have some free time, and some players usually choose to expand their base with that free time.

Keep in mind though, that those megabase players had to start somewhere, too! I am mildly insane when it comes to basing, but back in ~2014-2015 in DS I remember the days where I struggled to survive winter because I would get sniped by a walrus half of the time. I was Not Good at surviving back then, much less building, but overtime you can slowly but surely get better, and having motivations to get better also helps a lot (my main goal at that time was to try exploring the ruins, an area in the caves, as it was shrouded in a lot of mystery and wonder during those times and I really wanted to try them out. I also sucked a lot when doing the ruins when I started and died a good amount, but I still found it fun and had some life insurance at that point!).

Overall, you’re gonna die a few times, but I find it part of the experience. If you do wanna build a megabase, you have to get past the general hurdles of survival, and will eventually get to the point you can pretty much do anything you want!

lol, i only stopped getting regularly sniped last year. i spent two years being easy pickings, a half a year rolling roulette on who died first and even now i have like a 1/8 chance of getting pinged in the back because i forgot to go get that dingus sorted before he came for chester
