What is most needed quality of life wise right now?

Recommended Posts

Food ingredients and effects.
Some food are too hard to make and not even worth making (Such as wobster dinner and barnacle foods)
Most foods give the same 3 stats, would be more interesting if more food had unique effects like the mushcakes

favorite foods also need an overhaul. some characters have food that are easy to make, some are too hard to make and is not worth the +15 hunger.

barnacles need to be more farmable, please XD

Wobster dinner isn't THAT hard tbh, it's prolly one of cheapest foods but just takes a bit more effort into fishing. Good burst of health, doesn't cost much, but not a preferred food when I move around a lot.

Barnacles mostly cost a lot of effort for sure and there's no actual ways to make new sea stacks for them to live on. Klei should add prolly an alternative to sea stacks. I love barnacles but there really has to be a better way to cultivate them.

It's not the wobster, it's the butter. Compare to wobster bisque or surf n' turf. All you're really getting is extra sanity for the butter.

You could make it if you already have the butter, but there's no reason to go out of your way for that.

Butter has been more of a meme food than actually useful for anything but eating it raw. 10 years and no changes to it or how we get it, same for mandrakes which are powerful but they don't regrow and have not that many uses nor needing that many.

if craftable sea stack exsist, seaweed would be porbably the best food source

lmao no, by the time we get sea weeds we have many other alternatives to being best food sources. Barnacles are strong but nothing different from many other crockpot foods. Maybe just better overall stats but there's cheaper and also really good alternatives. Bees and meat is one of strongest. Farming takes effort but is easy enough to become very stable. Easiest food source is prolly just digging mushrooms and killing spiders. Veggies eggs and meat all for many and any dishes unless ur Wurt.

maybe, but consider seaweed also gives fish lure for free, you can easily get tons of fish for free

So does wicker with her books, so does mushroom caves mostly blue cap, so does pig farms/vargfarm/spider farm. Food is not something that is an issue after we work on it. It never was a problem nor was really in thought of being anything but having similar stats as any other food we eat. It's the effort we put into getting it is what matters. The more effort the better the food should be.

barnacle linguine is one of the best dishes in the game with an unparalleled stat distribution.

75, 30 hp, 20 san for just 2 barnacles and 2 avocados is awesome.

Here's to progress of food and survival. I reached stable food very early in the game through farming and varied food options. Foraging and tilling soil.I have stacks of tomatoes and potatoes bundled and dragonfruit ready for pie cooking. A stable meat supply from any source and anywhere I go by cutting down enemies left and right and food is always abundant. If you didn't play DS and DST during times when bunnymen were the best food source in the game then you probably didn't feel the shift in the game's food management. Either bunnymen drops wouldn't be nerfed or we would have stone fruit there nothing much would change as we would either funnel into specific recipes we would cook, but now we get more options to feel fancier for the efforts we put in being much more rewarding than before. I swap to Wormwood for a bit of farming and I eat for years.

But overall, I would really enjoy better ways to farm sea weeds just because they have pretty neat recipes. Getting around in the ocean and for how fragile sea stacks are is not great for having them not renew.

Everything I mentioned is above the quote. It is an awesome recipe but I like to be given options to gather them in better conditions. Maybe it should remain as more semi fancy food idk.

I do wish we could use ocean trawlers to gather wobsters tho, those just kinda exist around but for us of those that don't like to stay in place just making fishing pole, lure and fishing up some during darker hours seems eh.

But once set up you could forget about the that sources and use barnacles... they give a lot of ingredients in no time

Leafy meat and honey/avocados gets you two separate dishes instead. Same spoil time.

Beefy greens: 75/40/5

Jelly salad: 37.5/0/50

You can throw in your spare monster meat and not need to mine rock fruit, resulting in a dish with over double spoil time to replace beefy greens.

Honey ham: 75/30/5

There's plenty of other options. Trawler lets you make surf n' turf easily.

I think the problem is most players usually just don’t use universal stat options and would rather invest in dishes that bulk give a ton in one stat. It’s the reason meaty stew is such a good recipe even if it’s big merit is giving a huge amount of bonus hunger while being mediocre in other stats.

Not saying those dishes that give all 3 stats are bad (I’m a huge figatoni fan myself [which is ironically pretty similar stat/ingredient wise, swap out the barnacles for a fig and filler], in fact I cooked the dish thousands of times to be my main stat restoring food as Wanda of all characters because I think it’s funny), but I just feel it’s the perspective of a lot of players to just make multiple dishes that are “easier” to get then spend some time making one for all 3 stats that could potentially get wasted in one way or another.

Fishing kinda sucks. I love fishing in almost every other game but it's a terrible waste of time in DST.

Out of curiosity, is it because you don't like the mechanics or because the reward isn't good enough?

They do but it's also part my fault of laziness and wanting better conditions of having ways to set up barnacles with planned planting areas without the worry for destroying some of those sea stacks. Those break like porcelain since last nerf ngl, I see that is as more of a negative. Sea stack clusters spawning in larger quantity feels mildly unreliable. Getting to them is another hurdle. Planting, finding... etc. Once they are set up they do give really good recipes, but most players would choose much easier options so in the end this is a very fancy food for lazy people like me. I'll do it only if I feel like it.

overall fishing is just bad, you have to spend ton of time for a little meat in return, you also cant bulk get fish by fishing

It's not bad if using trawlers or Wicker books. Though rockjaws targetting trawlers can be really annoying.

In mainland China, I think the best quality of life update is to improve the network problem of multiplayer online. When playing games online with friends or strangers, the ping value is very high, or the ping value is low. Therefore, long-term players generally choose to buy dedicated servers, and the purchase cost of such dedicated servers is generally several times the price of local games.

Bring back the swish attack to swords + magic staves, as it fits a lot better on them with that animation than any other blunt of primitive weapon we could make. You literally slice enemies with swords while you fling cast spells. Maybe it works for boomerangs well too? idk.

Ooooh what about if Elastiplaster could be the upgrade on any backpack to be more krampus like? It's like, either we build wicker book farm or just reach that lategame it would be an awesome addition to upgrade backpacks to have more slots? Whenever we just want to wear our piggy sacks or deerclops duffles we would have different options regardless. Maybe it would benefit the most for insulated pack since that thing is still kinda hot garbo later in the game when bundles and bearger bin dominate, not mentioning preserver kits

you know , willson should have that as his skill tree

An alternative way to get pig skin, on a **** ton of servers farming this material is a disaster. People be breaking their houses on early game, then theres a couple left at pk which get camped by many. For early game its used on a lot of things, from saddles, to piggyback, to easy armor and weapon, and some people want all of this on the first autumn.

I was hoping that the whole "pigmen house short video" was a hint that Klei was going to address this issue in some update from this year but, so far it doesnt seem to be the case kek
