Nature of Wes Skill Tree

What should his skill tree include?

  1. 1. Which of the following would you like to see from a Wes skill tree (you may choose multiple to indicate that you want skills from multiple categories in his tree)

    • Purely positive skills
    • Purely negative skills (adding more challenges)
    • Funny do-nothing skills (similar to his first character "rework")
    • Positive skills with drawbacks

Wes has very very niche uses, main one being his speed balloon. He is the game's lovable punching bag. Do you want his skill tree to reflect him being a "bad" character, or do you want his skill tree to bring him up to speed with some of the other characters?

I do want useful skills for wes but done in a way thats extremely wacky and memeable.

As long as it's fun stuff I don't care.

I like the goose mastery on woodie even tho it's not "the meta" because it's the only chaotic skill we have so far. You could end up not too far or land smack in the middle of the monkey island.

Random RNG based skills with ups and downs could be cool for wes too. Like a jack in a box structure that when fuelled with nightmare fuel could spit out goodies when it pops like gems/gears/trinkets/mobs or turn into a very mini boss fight were you need to "kill" the jack to put him back into the box.

Id like to see wes get some useful stuff because his mime /balloonomancer theme has a lot of potential for it.

for example i think Wes shouldve gotten shadow prison functionality, referencing mimes getting stuck in invisible boxes. It couldve used similar visuals to the mime tool skins. And on wes it wouldve been a lot less broken.

he could also get the ability to hop over land gaps in both shards with the speed balloon.

Dont know how feasible this would be to implement but he could also make heavy objects easier to carry by attaching balloons to them.

A craft like the bundle/gift wrap but when u put stuff in it it turns into a balloon that you can hold in ur hands, basically a backpack. Pop it to get the items out.

balloon bumper kits that make the boat faster by making it “lighter”, pops when u collide with something.

an extra big balloon that can function like an umbrella

there are sooo many possibilities

Reminds me of an ooolllddddd concept I had, where everyone had their own gimmicky way of moving objects.

Wolfgang could carry faster when mighty (This got in!), Wes could attach balloons to them, Big Bernie could lift them, Shadow workers would team up and carry them, pikmin style. I'd be down for that!

Now I'm imagining the shadow workers making pikmin carrying sounds

so i am probably a "bad" wes main since i only really use speedy balloon and party balloon(+speed and group sanity increase) but i 100% would love the idea of this though i have no idea how it would be implemented)

years and years ago there was an idea that wes could construct tools out of balloons that would work for a short period of time but would eventually pop and do damage to wes. he could get say 5-20 uses out of the tool which means he could always have basic tool access without needing resources(outside of sanity) or more simply he could have a pick/axe+shovel that only requires sanity and a tiny bit of health(personally i would imagine an untwisted long balloon to be the "handle" while the tool itself lacks a visible head)
