Why does no one use my vertical wind tunnel?

Hello Oni experts

I have the vertical wind tunnel in a rec room.

Dupes pass trough it all the time.

They have 4 downtime slots

It is powered.

I dont know what the problem is it is 37 cycles old and has hat 0% uptime.

Maybe they fill their rec time with other things? Another possibility is that they start to use it but then go sleeping. No idea whether that would show as 0% uptime. Anyways, you should put rec-time after sleep-time so dupes will finish longer rec activities.

Your duplicants must be distracted by something else. If any would use the tunnel, even if interrupted, it wouldn't show up as 0% uptime. I suggest you track one of you duplicants day to day activities to see what else it is they are doing.

 

Also, pro tip: You may want to put airflow tiles on the bottom of your wind tunnel as to best equalize pressure.

Would need a larger screenshot to have some idea, but dupes do have a prioritization scheme for what rec building they use. Dupes always prefer the closest rec building from the highest priority category which they don't already have the buff for. Here are the priority categories:

1. Drink Machines and party line phone. These have a buff which lasts less than 1 cycle, so dupes will use a drink machine and party line every cycle if one is available.
2. Hot Tub, Wind Tunnel and Beach Chair. These all have a very long buff.
3. Arcade, Jukebot, Surfboard, Sauna. These all have a 3.95 cycle buff.
4. Watercooler. This has a 1.1 cycle buff.
5. Shower. This has a less than 1 cycle buff.

My guess then would be you have Drink Machines and Party Line Phone acting as "downtime poison".

You can also spread downtime activities on several circles by automate the buildings (or power if you have soda fountain). Maybe your dupes are bothered by something else in the 4 hour slots? (like over-sleeping, long meals, running to the toilets, long commutes)

Hi guys sorry for replying this late. Yout tips helped me to figure out that the distances to the kitchen and the bathroom were the problem because dupes would run to the toilet first then to the kitchen then to the greeat hall. I have added some shortcuts (Plastic ladder on the right between bathroom and kitchen)

I have this module where the dupes live on the frosty asteroid which i am heating up with small batteries. I am not sure what else i should do with it or how i could rearrange it... Maybe the toilets right after the entrance...

But as you can see the dupes now have enough free time to use the wind tunnel so thank you very much!
