We need a cheaper version of the bridge

Recommended Posts

If you think of cave bridges as boats then we need a "grass boat" aka a cheaper less durable version of the current plank bridge.

There's no question what a great addition the grass boat was to get things just out of reach or crossing certain gaps on the map.

A grass/twig bridge could be easily just as wonderful. It would decay over time, decay everytime you walk over it (2-5 uses?) and fall apart with a single earth quake. They'd be dangerous but enough to cross small gaps in a pinch without the need for planks.

Telepuff?

That would be the natural progression and probably cheaper than grass bridges long term. Just like you'd want a regular boat over a grass one after a time.

Keeping it as an early game tool, akin to the grass boat is the whole point. Other than wortox no other character can telepoof right from spawn.

Where it can be the most useful is that first summer where I'm looking for the ruins.

There are also chances where you can fall into the abyss and lose your items. There are grass patches all over the caves if you never where to look. In this case the lazy Explorer is at the bottom of the chasm and you need a quick way to make it back to your underground base.

Edit: Actually not sure if the penalty is implemented yet but you should definitely lose items falling in the abyss.

tht would be so immensely aggravating. i am NOT going to want to play the game for a while after losing a stack of bundling wrap and a decon staff and my cane and my lantern just because i wanted to get back to the surface faster post-ruins run

Maybe you could get them back from cave dwellers? Would be cool if they retrieved our items and we just kill them to get it back.

i mean, that is a thought but i wonder if that could be heavily exploited to dupe items by abusing quick logging and de-syncing shards

Or maybe, instead of losing items, we could lose a lot of max health? The penalty will be applied rarely (how many people would fall?) So having it take 50%max health could be enough

I'm sure klei has a way to prevent this, worst case just add whatever system is in place for when pirate monkeys steal items and implement it to cave monkeys.

You can go around looking for stashes where they bury our stuff.

End of the day doesn't matter it's not what this post is about.

It's just about an early tool exploration item like any other.

Edit: You can honestly just die normally and drop your stuff on the ground and need a quick bridge to get it back.

We don't need cheaper version of bridges but the current recipe should be cheaper as it makes no sense why it is so expensive.

Bridge range should be unlimited and I like the idea someone suggested allowing us to build a structure with more rope to extend range and allow us to choose to change direction of the bridge or even let us to build it in all 4 directions at once from this structure.

If the gap between land was small enough, then one wooden plank should be it’s crafting recipe, and like Walani’s surfboard it should be deployable and pick-up able and Redeployable…

Its NOT a Bridge, it’s a plank of Wood you placed down, walk across then pick back up once you get to the other side.

I think 3 rope 3 Planks is a perfect recipe. 2 rope 4 planks is already fine but I feel a 3/3 would be pretty solid.

OK but what about 8 grass 2 twigs

:wilsontea:

note: this about a different bridge not the plank one.

Edit: The grass boat ingredients may not work maybe 4 twigs. I think it should look differently too. Like a crudely put together raft you threw over a gap.

Oh a different one? Yknow it could work like the Winona Rose bridge where you place it and it is rickety as heck (maybe even use the slow walking when going over sink holes animation to show the survivors being extra careful while traversing it) only for it to fall down into the void after like half a day. would be kinda neat.

Yesssss the Winona rose bridge is exactly what I'm hoping for but waaaaay crappier.
