Cvmoote
The new bridges are a huge and welcomed change, however their uses rely on way to much RNG. The nice thing that bridges are supposed to solve in the first place is not having to regen caves over and over to get and Atrium close enough to TP Staff too, since I know a lot of people including myself prefer that. And the bridges most useful aspect is being able to bridge to the Atrium. The other issue is with it only being 3 tiles max range, it doesn't even connect some of the grass land biomes where the cave entrances are at. Which is where it was showcased too. So then that building area is also reliant on RNG and good spawns. The 3 tile limit just makes a great item so limited for no reason. From a design perspective to it wouldn't matter having a longer bridge because they hang from the ceiling, and not from the edge of the "cliffs" Also I think this is a bug, but some parts in the atrium that actually are small enough are able to still have bridges there, and so I knew we could build it there, however the Obelisks and the spikes that are in the Atrium are blocking/preventing from bridges built in a certain spot, even though the bridges would still fit without blocking anything. Bridges aren't useful enough with how awful cave generation can be, so it seems more simple to just make the bridges longer rather than fix the generation so things are guaranteed closer. Maxil20
Even having them reach twice as long (~6 tiles) would give them a lot more versatility. It’s really hard to make use of it in even small gaps, as those are usually 4-5 tiles wide on average except when they are just about to meet up. I would love for it to be longer. (Another more wishful thinking one, but I wish you could double up the bridges to make 2 tile wide ones, 1 tile ones are cool, but they don’t fit my purposes nearly as well as 2 tile ones would given how much I do things like build double wide cobble roads.) Evelo
I think 5 or 6 tiles is a respectable max distance. chirsg
The plank bridges are nowhere near acceptable enough. Even if they doubled the range, it's completely not good enough. GodIess
If you do make a length of 6 tiles, it should be logical. For example, a maximum of 3 tiles on one side. And if you want to put more than 3, then you need to get to the other side and there you can build 3 more to connect the bridges Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/159263-bridges-should-have-infinite-building-range-or-some-higher-max/#findComment-1743027 Share on other sites
GreenBowers
The bridges are almost perfect, I think they just need a higher max range and then they're fine.
