So, what is your take of the Frosty Planet after a while?

I have now played the Blasted Ceres Cluster for a few days, and I really like it.

Yeah, Blasted is fun. The start is so impoverished in terms of non-Ceres things.

Also the magma is highly accessible. I have a Sauna powered by bottled magma.

One more thing I like: wild bonbon trees enable permanent self sufficient colonies on those distant destinations that are guaranteed to not have any water source, like the superconductive asteroid. Also, those places have higher than average lux per cycle! Awesome.

One more thing I dislike: no Ceres moonlet cluster, and Ceres fragment can't spawn the geothermal heat pump. This one hits hard. I really, REALLY don't like this. I can understand why, but still..:wilson_cry:

You can do that with regular arbor trees as well, but an alternative to that is certainly welcome.

Wouldn't you believe, I made a mod for that. Two even! See the first page of this thread for links.

Entirely underwhelming for a "DLC2"... it feels exactly like the free content "Upgrades" of the past. :/

Spaced Out offered a completely new flavor and play style, new mechanics and systems. completely changing how you play.
This? Focus on Cold Management, which was basically already in the game. That's about it. Problems that are virtually non-existent by the mid-to-late game.

Don't get me wrong, I love what's been added (some more than others), but it doesn't feel like a DLC2 that you should have to pay for (and I'm someone who's played since Alpha release, and regularly WANTS to throw money Klei's way to evolve the game even more).

I just hope *DLC3 is closer in scale to Spaced Out than Cold Start.

*EDIT: DLC3 (AKA: "Bionic Booster Pack") is everything I could have hoped for and more! Successfully redeemed themselves from DLC2's letdown. xD

Is there any information about how many copies of the Frosty Planet Pack have been sold?

Apparently, only Klei and Steam knows. There is a website (gamalytic.com) that offers estimates, but they do not do DLCs at this time.

They've said they don't wanna make anymore dlc akin to spaced out again, because spaced out is essentialy a seperate game of vanilla and they have to keep both updated and compatible and that it was a headache with just 2 "instances" of the game and as such wouldn't do it again.

Any upcomming dlc's will be akin to the one we got with ceres.

I bought the Frosty Planet Pack and will also buy any upcoming DLCs. It's no problem with me. I still want to support Klei as much as I can as one person.

However, I think it is time for Klei to do deeper and more drastic system changes, fundamental changes that enhance the gameplay in previously impossible ways.

Of course, the positive facets of ONI that everyone enjoys and are part of the core gameplay can and should remain.

One problem is that Klei has not yet acted on various proposals and ideas discussed in the forums in the last three years. I think that was a mistake, and it had consequences (like people abandoning the game, losing motivation, etc.)

Ive said it befrore and i'll say it again.  I'd pay $30 for an expansion just to fix the single threading end game frame rate issue.

Hope this game, or a sequel, gets supported for years to come.  Its easily one of my all time favorites.

After finishing a long run on Ceres I have to say it doesn't really work for me. I'm trying the new Ceres moonlet clusters (a tier that needs urgently new content) - and just the thought of working with those separated resource loops makes me wanna quit. Something I don't have with the other starts.

So after 3690 cycles the Ceres content that was still used are

Squash fries to feed the hangry tree

a radioactive Geothermal Pumpimage.png.aa7660ec40c93d7f0465590fe93645c2.png

And some artificial reconstructed Ceresimage.png.02a320b4d005a4a730ea454f1bdcaf73.png

I can't really put the finger on what it is that bugs me with Ceres but it just doesn't inspire me so much as the often more messy other biome (combination)s
