Who's the best character

I wanna know which character is considered the best right now because the skill tree is confusing to me so any suggestions would be greatly appreciated  thanks.

People here have bias to their preferences lel, just play who you think is easiest to learn (obviously Wilson).

Wilson to me because he's the only one who's basically still almost the same as his DS version ^^ And I probably don't have to expect him to be much changed any further.

....I would have picked Maxwell otherwise, but they will add a skilltree for him and I don't quite like the way skilltrees have changed the characters so far (besides Wilson who almost stayed the same)

you can not spend points on skill tree perks to not get them

if by best u mean strongest then its undoubtably maxwell. Even without skilltree. 
 

The best survivor with a skilltree thats still “balanced” and not busted to the point where the game becomes boring is Wormwood imo.

Yes that's true, which is why I would if I ever played the standard Maxwell again I would likely simply ignore his skilltree.

I decided for Wilson nevertheless in the poll because he is the character that I actually considered the skilltree simple and fitting to Wilson's old DS self the best so I actually do use his skilltree occasionally.

Actually Wurt's merm kingdom theme would win in sense of "world conquering" gameplay if I had to decide between them in the current state.

*honestly I wonder why nobody voted for Webber. He brings some quite amazing skills too, considering how rather plentiful spiders (all types combined) are in the world. But then I suppose his "followers-collection"-skills are definitely overshadowed by wurt by this point so people probably don't consider him anymore when it comes to this way of playing the game.

What's best? Best for what? Of course Wurt is the best character ever created in any piece of videogame media, but maybe you're searching for something else like fighting, gathering, farming, funny beards... At the end, you will play the best with whatever character YOU want to play.

There's no single best character. I voted Wes because there is a worst character and it's him by intentional design.

Wurt is factually the best character in Don't Starve Together. It just takes time for her to build her kingdom. After that, the game is played on autopilot. Wood? Just make merms do it. Rocks? Make merms do it. Killing bosses? Make merms do it in 10 seconds at no cost.

"But, Maxwell can do this too!"

No he cannot. The amount of minions that Wurt has at no additional cost is insane. Maxwell cannot match Wurt's speed of gathering resources and killing bosses. It's not even close.

 

Wurt is literally the character for people that want the game to be played for them. (not in a bad way though, I actually really liked seeing everything get demolished while I stand and watch)

Best is so subjective. There is no best as each character has their own strengths. (Not weaknesses anymore......) So I chose my favorite, Wormwood.

Wurts best late game character and maxwell best early game character. If you argue your just wrong as jokes are not real and you will indeed suffer.

if you do the bosses once, then sure

but usually you farm bosses each time they respawn, and Wurt requires absolutely 0 preparation for each kill after the first

Different characters have different strenghs/weakness, play what's fun for you, but Maxwell spawn with the tool that will demolish the game if efficiency is what you seek. if you suck at kitting then Wigfrid, wanna kill things faster with less preparation ? Wolfgang, hate walking and want easy heal ? Wortox and so on, so in the end what matters is if you are confortable and like what you are playing or not.

If we are talking how quickly one can use use their perks an abilities to interact with the world and how it effects their gameplay, willow, woodie and maxwell are pretty high up there.

If we are talking good for saving on time or resources, wormwood, wickerbottom and to an extent wigfrid are the ones competing.

But I mean, it's tough to pick a best character in my case since I see the value and fun in each character, heck even wes has some fun niches he can fill. Im pretty sure with his weird works less efficiently passive which is just a 25 percent reduction in tool or weapon durability usage, combined with wigfrids durability song which is also 25 percent, wes can use certain items more efficiently than others, sort of like a supporting role of a goofy mime wizard with an ice staff or late game semi crowd control with the brightshade staff. (of course thats in the team setting) 

Tldr. It's probably maxwell, man has some neat tricks and many of them do not need a top hat or a rabbit to pull off, he's one heck of a magician.

I started playing this game about 2 years ago thanks to my lovely boyfriend, but have found myself playing it increasingly more recently wit hhim and my friends. I started off as a Wendy player, as her lore and Abigail really drew me in. I do think I made a good decision starting off with her because she is a relatively simple character that is strong in the early game so I could grasp concepts of the game. I then went to Winona (before her rework/skill tree) and I enjoyed it! There were frustrations regarding how her structures operated and what her tape could and could not fix, but luckily her skill tree handled some of the struggles I faced. Now, I have been playing Wurt more than ever and I have had the most fun with her. I would say I luckily picked a good all round character (Wendy), a great glow up character (Winona), and one of the best (if not the best) scaler (no pun intended) in the game (Wurt). As someone with arachnophobia, I think the only character I refuse to touch for any reason would be Webber. However, I do like his lore and how he works as a survivor.

People act like being the fastest at chopping wood means everything, but it doesnt really, its about being good enough to amass wood.
