heckubis
metric vs imperial. metric is simple and clean you change measurements by moving the decimal place. imperial you change measurements by doing an additional formula to convert units to the new measurements. for example 100cm is 1m. 1000m is 1km. 12in is 1F. 3ft is 1yard 1760y is 1mile Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/157843-please-add-american-measurement-system/#findComment-1732406 Share on other sites

DTU for heat energy is a made-up unit. Watts for electrical power and Wattseconds (aka Joule) for electrical energy are not uncommon in the US, as far as I know (e.g. no foot-pound or horsepower ratings on lightbulbs). Molecular weight doesn't have a customary unit and is only used for vertical gas/liquid sorting anyway. Illuminance in lux is SI, but since there's no length unit, it might as well be foot-candle - the absolute value is meaningless. The rad for absorbed dose is US-customary, but used like a made-up unit. That leaves weight as a measure that has meaning in the game and has a US customary alternative. But, unfortunately, over the range present (from at least about 28 short tons for the largest debris pile to ~1/65000th of a grain/tile for the least dense gas), it's extremely unwieldy, with competing units (short and long hundredweights and tons). If you go to grams below ounces or pounds, not much is gained in my opinion by using pounts instead of kg.
