Why can’t Wurt craft Merm tools herself?

Recommended Posts

They just made it so that the Merm tools will drop from merms that were holding them. It sounds really useful on a second playthrough to use a tool that can chop, mine, and plow soil for farming, at the cost of having durability in between flint and gold tools.

Also, why can’t she wear the cool helmets? I get the excuse that “it’s only for bigger merms” but Wurt is just as much of a Merm as the others. Having something on par with Woody’s hardhat would be nice.

The way I see it, "Why does she need to?"

Football helms and log suits resist 80% damage. I think that merm armor resists less. Also she can craft gold tools. Merms cannot.

I'll give you this though, the armors look very cool. We don't know if wurt will get skins for the helms on other armors, but I kind of agree with you. Surely other characters should be able to use the armors.

It's really about convivence Wurt has a massive hp pool and access to cheap healing with durable(merms) or numerous(mosquitos) with her so in the day to day there's not really a need for higher tier damage reduction armor I already have a similar experience with Woodie where through most of the game I'll skip football helms and crowns and just use the hardwood hat despite it being weaker than a football helm. On the tool side of things it greatly saves on inventory space while the tools are worse than flint tools they're an omni tool that can be used to tell your merms to perform various tasks such as mining, chopping, and tilling all in one item.

On the more teamplay side of things this would allow Wurts who join later to have access to cheap armors and tools early on.

Wurt is infamously known for having problems with obtaining gold in solo, due to not being able to trade w/ the pig king, so a multitool would not only fix that problem, but also free up some inventory space.

The cheap armor, I agree with you, but if they don’t decide to add it, I can overlook, but I don’t see a reason why the multitool isn’t craftable. You hit it right on the tin where I was trying to go with this post. Thanks!

I didn't think I would ever hear this kind of slander

Wurt gets so much gold passively from just having a single ocean trawler that I've never had to worry about gold when playing as her. Spend a few days getting merm king up and setup a trawler and every day just free gold and it adds up.

As for the multi-tool and the hard hat well... Why do you want the multi tool so badly? I just don't understand it. Finding a single run down shack and befriending 1-3 merms is all you need to make whatever tool you have last ridiculously long (Chop/Mine/etc) Giving her a multi tool just so she doesn't have to spend resources making a Axe/Pick (So she has both) is just lazy really. There's no need for her to have it, Merms are her tools basically. Also unless they changed it I thought Wurt could pickup the multi-tool after killing them... Which at that point just kill the merms if you want the tool so badly.

As for the helmet - Woodies hardhat helmet is his skill, It's not right to be copying his skill over to Wurt or other characters cause then at what point will the skill trees be "Unique"? Would totally love to see every skill tree going forward be halfway filled with reused skills (Woodie Hard hat, Wilson Torch throw, Wilson bigger torch radius, Etc) It's another character's skill so it has to stay as only that character's skill or else we get nonsense like that which leads to half-baked skill trees. If you want woodie's hard hat, Then play as or with a woodie. It's designed to be a cooperative multiplayer game after all....

It's actually a pick, a axe, a shovel, and a garden hoe.

Woodies hardhat is a copy of Wigfrid's helmets and the Swamp brawler helmet is only 50% damage reduction while Woodie's is 70%. Not trying to debunk your argument or anything just figured it's worth pointing out.

Because Klei dont want to make Wurt good they only want to make Merms better.
