Mike23Ua Posted June 15, 2024 Share Posted June 15, 2024 Seeing the recent beta changes where Klei made Winona’s Catapults only useable by Winona & then reverted those changes in a later Hotfix so players COULD still use them it got me to thinking… Why are they designing their game like this??? No seriously just please listen- Skill Trees was added to the game as a way of giving players the OPTION to CHOOSE between several good perks, while having to choose also which perks that they Don’t want to take in favor of the perks that they Do. These limited skill allotments force the player into choosing what they want to invest their 15 skill points into, because if you could just Unlock enough skill points to open up your Entire skill Tree, what would even be the point in having a skill tree at all right? Im just going to cut to the point, I defiantly do not feel like any way shape or form that other characters besides Winona can use her catapults for “Free” If Wilson has to choose between Beard Hair Storage & Transmutation, If Willow has to choose between buffs to Bernie or Buffs to Her Fire Mage Powers, If Woodie can only master ONE of his Wereforms while the other two never see their full potential then Winona’s catapults desperately need to be something you Opt to use by giving up your own skills. (Im also pitching this idea for Maxwell being able to read and use Wickerbottoms ENTIRE Library collection) Before skill trees existed it was fine for other non-Winona’s to be able to use her catapults (actually it wasn’t but that’s besides the point now…) The TL:DR Add a new Skill option at the bottom of the skill tree for the characters “Basic Operations” (Learn how to use Winona’s Catapults.) But it’s going to force you to choose between you getting the most out of your own fun and unique skill tree perks, or “borrowing” the skills of another character, and sacrificing your own skills to do so. Maxwell and Wickerbottom have BOTH yet to get skill trees but the idea is basically the same- Does Maxwell get fancier new stuff & more powerful versions of what he already has, or does he invest into learning Wickerbottoms books? Does Wickerbottom give in to the Codex Umbra and unlock its full potential or does she invest in her own skill tree. I know Wilson is probably the absolute worst example (sorry Klei his skill tree is trash…) But I would give up Wilson’s Transmutation AND Torch Skills to unlock the ability to use Winona’s Catapults. Valase Posted June 15, 2024 Share Posted June 15, 2024 touch some grass, dear. they changed it because Winona could make everything with one skillset, then choose another skill set for her everyday life. basically having access to her entire skill tree 24/7. Now it updates based on "who" is using it and what perks they have, since Wilson does not have Winona perks, the catapults are the default one, if it is a "Shadow" Winona, the catapults will get the shadow effects (does anyone have a friend that can test what happens when two different Winonas play with the catapults?). Also, this should be either in the beta branch or in the suggestion/feedback branch. If someone (Winona) is going to build something for the team, then they would make it user friendly.
