If you are at the statue, you can simply stand still and wait for the curse to quickly drain out. It will quickly expire well before the full moon ends, giving you plenty of time to pick the flower once you turn back.

I thought the curse stayed until the night ended

If you are exposed to a full moon curses drain half as quickly as they normally do, and upon first exposure you will transform into a random form. If it expires you won't re-transform. You also might be able to "dodge" the transformation by hiding in a bush hat or snurtle shell when you first get exposed, not sure if that still works.
