Why was changed the original voice of wormwood?

Recommended Posts

I love wormwood, and it's voice is quite peculiar tbf, but checking on curiousities about wormwood I crossed one that said wormwood had a different voice in the development and actually played the sound and it was like some pretty high pitched flute making it a more cute and like dancing voice or something like that (which is kinda on brand with wormwood). Without wanting to complain much about it, I am really curious about what maked the developers take the desition to change the original idea.

The voice that I am refering to is in this video, minute 32:43

Huh, Wormwood hit puberty in the stage of development.

Also, I heard Wormwood with another voice, it was in the Hamlet expansion trailer (Launch trailer), you hear him for a second with a voice slightly high pitched than the one we have now.

I'm pretty sure that was removed from dst as players could have the green color as their font color in multi-player to reduce confusion.

I mean what confusion?? Hes a plant give him a green font, if anything giving all the characters different coloured fonts would be a good idea, would add a nice wee touch to all the characters then slap an option to revert back to the current white.

Everyone wins woohoo!

It was probably changed to fit him better. The new vuvuzela voice sounds very jungly, and fits his rooty viney appearance. The unimplemented voice sounds more like what a little fairy gnome creature would sound like, like an NPC that tricks the player into venturing into a dangerous area.

current white.

Your chat color is your player color, not white. Every single player on the server has a unique chat color based on what player number they are. You're probably misremembering because the chat as it appears in the chatbox is white, with the player color being on their name to the left of it instead. i think his current instrument is more unique. it's also pretty jarring which definitely suits wormwoods personality. it kind of parallels webber with being a very cute and innocent character who happens to have a very deep and scary-sounding voice.

Well if you look at the original design of wormwood it makes more sense why it was changed to the didgeridoo. Frankly I much prefer it over the flute thing. We already have enough high pitched wind instruments. So pretty happy with what came of the best plant friend to fall from the night ball.

Has a lot of sense, since I don't really use the default skin and rather the chrismas one that is more fairylike maybe I detached from the real concept of Wormwood. Which makes me think, it could be cool to have them change instrument according to skin (but also it'll be any programmer nightmare)

I'm going to go out on a limb and say they decided it was too close to Willow's voice. Wilba's voice is also pretty similar. But I genuinely wouldn't be surprised if Beta Wormwood's voice was just a pitch-shifted version of Willow's voice file for testin.

They replaced it since it sounds so bad, that hurt my ears. You can hear the person blowing.
