JustAFlower Posted October 21, 2023 Share Posted October 21, 2023 Everyone is talking about anything in the don't starve franchise, but do we know what the sun actually is ? I mean, yeah, it's responsible for the day and dusk phase (YOU'RE JOK-), the seasons (I think..?) and the Aporkalypse(the Aporkalypse is an eclipse if you didn't know) . But what the heck is it ? Is it just a Ball of fire like a Dwarf star but big ? Someone summoned this sun with a big Star Caller's staff ? I have those questions going in my mind and I dunno what to say. I would probably be a maniac for wanting sun-cycles like the moon to get new season interactions, weather blablabla the whole content picture. But I want some interaction with the sun besides vitamin D and removing darkness. It can't just sit there. What do you think of the "sun" in ds. Secondly I dunno what the sun itself is in the Don't Starve Cinematic Universe, but I do know that if you count the segments on the clock and kinda arbitrarily say that those could represent "hours", then the Constant's day is shorter than ours: sixteen hours to our 24. So...faster-spinning planet? Or should I say "planet"? Also, there used to be a mod that gave a proper DAWN phase to the day as well as the dusk one, but it broke forever ago. A pity, that. I too would like more detail put into the day-ness of the game. As for what the flip-flap-florp the Constant's sun is...your guess is as good as mine. As weird as everything in this universe is, it could be the freaking LIGHT BULB on the ceiling of the lab in some dupe's asteroid base that this simulation is all taking place in! (I'm not saying it IS.
