What Characters do you like to play more in DST than in Singleplayer?

Recommended Posts

- This post is just out of curiosity, but I’ll say what characters I like more DST more than single player:

+ Wendy: Mainly, just her being able ti summon Abigail at any time, and with Abigail being able have certain effects is pretty cool.  I do enjoy Abby’s “soothe” and “rile up” mechanic which gives more control to the player and the -50 sanity penalty is no longer in DST.

+ Wolfgang: His rework is pretty cool and I prefer it over just eating to make him strong.  I prefer to get strong in ways that make more sense and being able to go mighty whenever you want without having to have the food available.  The weights and gym are nice additions too Wolfgang’s rework and his whistle makes his normal form have some use which add variety-if that makes sense.
- (I’m don’t wanna say too much but those are my top 2 characters I enjoy more in DST than in DS but they aren’t bad at all in singleplayer but I feel as if they are more polished in my opinion).

- So, what are your guys favorites moreso in DST than in Singleplayer?

Compared with DS, in DST, if it is a solo game instead of cooperating with friends to survive, then I will choose Willow. The fire girl has a good upper limit of life, will not die quickly, is not afraid of fire damage, and has many ways to play against monsters. Bernie's existence makes the fire girl not afraid of being attacked by hunting dogs, spiders, frogs, and shadow monkeys. Although she is not a character suitable for novices and has many shortcomings (novices do not know how to control the SAN value, cannot provide much help to teammates during multiplayer games, etc.), it does not prevent her from being my favorite character.
In DST, if I play with friends and quickly fight the boss, I am more inclined to choose Wickerbottom or Maxwell. Wickerbottom's books can provide a lot of resources in the early stage of the game, and Maxwell can not only read Wickerbottom's books, but also has resource collection and good combat assistance capabilities. Compared with DS, I think the differences between the characters in DST are greater, and the advantages and disadvantages are more obvious. I also like other characters, and my favorite is Willow. If klei can correct the shortcoming of Bernie not being able to grow in size during enlightenment, better.

Aren’t all characters that exist in both games much better on DST than on DS? As in much more polished and better made overall.

I’d be curious about the other way around.

Some of them are so different that it's hard to say that the DST version is better exactly, like Willow or WX-78. (In Willow's case this is partly because DSAlone lets you set items on fire in your inventory, which is usually a bad idea unless it's a coconade you're about to throw but works great for her.) This isn't me saying DST Willow or WX are bad or the DSAlone versions are better, I like reworked WX in particular a lot, but "is SYSTEM OVERLOAD from lightning and increasing your stats really high by eating lots of gears better than having low-ish base stats and being able to plug in a variety of modules to give yourself extra abilities or raise your stats" is a more complicated question than "is it better to be able to befriend spiders, or to be able to befriend spiders and also pick them up and put hats on them".

Wolfgang went from strategically choosing how much food to use in order to pick when and where you get your advantages to just looking at another monitor while you loop a 1 second animation for an hour. Both gathering food and doing the animation take time, but with the food thing you needed to prepare in advance instead of the moment and you could optimize it. The animation thing is the same boring time waster for everyone regardless of anything. He was never exceptionally complicated, but now he's one of the simplest characters in the game.

People like to pretend like triple food consumption is nothing just because it isn't instantly killing them, but it really is a lot of food. Just look at how nobody ever feeds a beefalo to domesticate it since it has 4x hunger drain. That's not much more than Wolfgang had, yet now that it's on a beefalo instead of the ebil Edgy Rick man everyone acts like it's suddenly a big deal to get that much food.
