Known ways to protect from hail?

I have a number of animal pens in my 2.5k day world, and after learning that hails damages mobs began to wonder what (if any) methods are there to protect areas from hail? I heard trees and the knobbly nut trees protect players, but obviously these are impractical for animal pens, especially those not near the ocean. I also heard that the shadow umbrella works, but I'm looking for a more hands off solution.

Umbralla AOE, Above Average tree canopies, and hiding under trees (shady areas) seem to work.

I think those are currently your only options.

Note that LUNAR ALIGNED mobs are immune, but that's a very specific category in of itself.

Assuming nothing changes:

ggwp to my gekkos and goat herds

I can't play beta as I'm on console but I'm betting beta features aren't toggable in world settings during beta so you guys can't even turn off lunar hail..?

If so my condolences genuinely go out to you pc players who are going to lose your various animal herds, pets, pens and builds =( that sucks..

Or can you not play beta on existing world's in the first place and have to start new ones?
