STAT BUFFERS King's Appetite - Increase Merm King's Hunger +25 - Increase Merm King's Hunger +50 - Increase Merm King's Hunger +75 This would add 150 more Hunger for the Merm King. From what I currently understand, the Merm King has 200 Hunger and with full Hunger and Health will perish after 10 Days if no feedings or attacks happen. This would add another 6 Days to that count total, so a player could effectively feed him only once during Summers and Winters without worry. These numbers can definitely be adjusted but the main point is "add more Hunger to the MK so he doesn't require as much maintenance". Swamp Speedster - Increase Marsh Turf speed boost 2.5% - Increase Marsh Turf speed boost 2.5% - Increase Marsh Turf speed boost 5% This would add a total of 10% more speed to Wurt's Marsh Turf speed boost. From what I currently understand that number is 7.8 and the base speed is 6. So 10% more would add another .6 to that 7.8, making it a total of 8.4 which is the same as the base speed for WereGoose or WX with two Super Acceleration Circuits... which isn't too crazy but useful if you like speed boosts. The Marsh is her home... I say let her fly in it. Tactical Tentacles - Increase Tentacle Spike uses to 125 - Increase Tentacle Spike uses to 150 - Increase Tentacle Spike uses to 175 I always saw the Tentacle Spike as the weapon of choice for Wurt to use... so this would make it more appealing for Wurt players. It would bump the total damage it can do from 5100 to 8925... and we could bump that up even a little further if we stacked it with something from this next branch. A-FISH-CIONADO Since fish are sacred to the Merms, maybe we could give some of the other Ocean Fish perks like the Scorching Sunfish has... but just for Wurt. Here are some ideas: - Golden Koi: increases durability of TOOLS (like Honey Crystals do) - Dappler Koi: increases durability of WEAPONS (like Wigfrid's sonnet does) - Bloomfin Tuna: increases Wetness Protection... to like... 100%... maybe? Still susceptible to lightning strikes. - Fallounder: Buffs Defense (like Garlic Spice does) - Dandy Lion or Sweetish Fish: Buffs Attack Damage (like Pepper Spice does) - If a player unlocks ALL of the A-fish-cionado skills it will unlock a skill that grants Wurt the ability to craft and read Angler's Survival Guide. If chosen, it will no longer give her sanity when read, it now costs her sanity to use like Wicker and Maxwell. - If a player unlocks ALL of the A-fish-cionado skills AND the Angler's Survival Guide crafting/ability skill... then... and this is long shot... they unlock the 2 Eels + Tentacle Spike ONLY = a little electrical damage buff skill. It wouldn't have to be FULL electrical damage... just a little... and it would require 7 skill points to obtain. That would be awesome... just think about it. Also, individual fish can't stack the perk they give. So players can't have 10 Dandy Lion Fish and do unreal damage but they COULD utilize up to 3 or 4 different fish-perks at once. For instance, if it was Winter, you could use the Scorching Fish, the Fallounder, Dappler Koi, and a Dandy Lion all at once while fighting the Deerclops. IF this were to be one of Wurt's branches, then players might like some cute, new boats to go sailing and fishing with... CRAFTABLES Quick preface, I'd love to see Wurt be able to build lily pad looking boats using reeds, kelp fronds, and bull kelp stocks, but how these would actually function is open for discussion. Are they stationary floating bridges? Are they boats that have some perks like extra speed (like a Wooden Oar does the speed of a Driftwood Oar) or could absorb impacts better (meaning they don't get leaks as easily)? Maybe a lily flower grows in the middle of them and you can add Lightbulbs to it for light...? How they exactly function, I'm not sure... but I do know that some Lily Pad Boat-Bridges would look awesome for Swamp Bases. Personally I would want them to be stationary as I would mainly use them as boat-bridges. I'm sure there are others who would want them to be full on boats, either way, they would basically be re-skinned versions of boats/grass rafts. - Lil Lily Pad Rafts: 3 Reeds + 3 Kelp Fronds + 1 Bull Kelp. - Large Lily Pad Boats: 6 Reeds + 6 Kelp Fronds + 1 Bull Kelp Now if they were boats that can move... then maybe they would use Boards instead of the Bull Kelp. We'll let the Devs decide, IF they like the idea that is... Another thing I would like for Wurt to have is a Little Library, which is basically a swamp-y looking version of the those book exchange/free library boxes you see by people's mailboxes. - Little Library: 2 Living Logs + 2 Reeds + 3 Twigs = a 4 Slot mini-Bookcase that regens her books. Wurt does like books and I'm making some suggestions that would allow her to craft a few books on her own, so this might be nice for her to do. Finally for craftables, what if Wurt could make some Swamp Armor using Reeds, Tentacle Spots, and Bone Shards. These might have some perks that include Wetness Defense (since Spots are used for Rain Gear) and... HP Leeching if you wear both sets of the armor. Mosquitoes live in the swamp... they leech HP... and many games have Bone Armor or Weapons that also leech HP... so this isn't a huge stretch of the imagination. Just something that adds a fun new armor set + mechanic to the Swamp Princess. - Bone Shard Crown Cowl: 2 Tentacle Spots + 3 Bone Shards + 2 Reeds - Bone Shard Breastplate: 4 Tentacle Spots + 2 Bone Shards + 4 Reeds If she or a player wears both, they get an HP Leeching perk + Wetness Protection. A good downside might be they only have like 75% damage reduction with like 600 HP. MERM VILLAGE UPGRADES This where we take some ideas from CotL and the other Wurt posts. Picture a Craftsmerm House that can be upgraded, each of these houses now has a 3-slot window that will open to accept upgrade materials. - Merm-maid House: By adding 3 Boards (or 6 or 9) to a Craftsmerm House, a little Chest (or 2 or 3) gets added to the structure (like in CotL) and now if a player plants Saplings, Grass Tufts, Stone Fruit Bushes, or Reeds within a 1.5-2 tile radius around that Merm-maid House... the Merm inside will start collecting the resources and fill the Chest(s) with the resources. The Merm-maid does NOT re-fertilize and will stop collecting once the chest(s) is/are filled. - Culimermian House: By adding 3 Cut Stones + 6 Charcoal + 6 Sticks to a Craftsmerm House, a little Crockpot gets added... and the only thing the Merm Chef wants to cook are Durian Dishes. So the Chef won't come to cook unless a Durian plus the required ingredients for the dishes are added to the Crockpot. Here are some actual Durian dishes I found that would work the like Bunnymen Event dishes: one for Hunger, one for Health, one for Sanity, and one that's an All Around dish. Could more be added, sure... these are just a few ideas. 1. Hunger Dish - Durian Salad: 1 Durian + 1 Stone Fruit + 2 Kelp Fronds 2. Health Dish - Durian Fritters: 1 Durian + 2 Corn + 1 Berry 3. Sanity Dish - Durian Ice Cream: 1 Durian + 1 Electric Milk + 2 Ice 4. All Around - Durian Tacos: 1 Durian + 1 Stone Fruit + 1 Onion/Toma root + 1 Corn The stats would be something like better versions of Beefy Greens, Waffles, Ice Cream, and Fish Tacos... but we don't need to worry about that right now. AFFINITIES - Shadow: Wurt can craft and read On Tentacles - Lunar: Wurt can craft and read Sleepytime Stories She loses the ability to gain sanity from these and they now cost sanity per use. OR... - Shadow: Wurt can spawn Baby Tentacles using a Tentacle Spike - Lunar: Can Harvest extra Stone Fruit from Stone Fruit Bushes (kinda sucks... but does fit the Lunar motif) So there's a 24-slot skill tree (25 IF the 2 Eels + Tentacle idea gets added) and (I think) these would add some pretty fun/cool game changers to Wurt. flamboyant wolf Posted September 13, 2023 Share Posted September 13, 2023 I think it would be cool if merm maids would also feed the king with appropriate items in their storage/inventory, if he's in their range, so you could semi automate king feeding process by planting some berry bushes/kelp around a king and placing a few merm maid huts near him. Also we need fishermerms, just cause. oh, also also, would be nice to have some skills related to king trades, like new items added to the pool or overall better trades. I post these to brainstorm/get feedback from the forums. @skile I did have a couple versions of the Merm King branch and maybe 150 Hunger is a lot. So maybe one slot for like 50+ Hunger, one for Increased Items from trades and then one for... "blank" (whatever else). POND Fisher Merms was an idea I thought about, and I know a lot of people wanted Farmer Merms, Fisher Merms, and even Fire Merms... but those seem a little "development intensive" aka would get shot down by the Devs. So I'm shooting for easy/entry level stuff the Devs could pull off without a ton of work. Merms that could collect and cook stuff seems pretty easy... and... it's on the Devs radar if that interview with Devolver Digital is accurate. I did think about a Feeder Merm but went with the Increased Hunger Branch, since it's easier to implement. Merms who could fish ponds doesn't seem too bad because they just need a pond and a rod, but Ocean Fishing or Farming gets a little tricky. Like just the amount of stuff a Farmer Merm needs is a lot: Digamajig, Hoe, Seeds, maybe fertilizer, a Watering Can, and an Ice Box or Salt Box... that's a lot of stuff to figure out. And Ocean Fishing needs bait and bobbers... plus the time of day effects those things... so I'm aiming for "simple but helpful". Just to clarify. I would absolutely love this, and just general sailing skills for Wurt being the most affiliated with water. Unless she learns to craft a merm version of the book (which could be a lesser version). Wurt could very well be on the path to become a swamp warrior-shaman, based on her cultural inheritance and wicker’s teachings. I'm talking about this and not only, I've been trying to write for the second day in a row, but because of my work and a stupid translator, everything was delayed 《On the one hand, a small library for wurt is cute and original. But on the other hand, I don't want Wurt to be able to create books with a Wickerbottom. So, Wurt can make it so that Wurt can write her 4 books that would be more effective, but they worked. And then what if she could craft Swamp Scrolls instead of books... scrolls maybe have a one-time use mechanic and could stack... so the books are good because they can regen and the scrolls are good because you could stack them up to 10... but they're downside is they require a lot of resources to keep making them. Here are some actual Durian dishes I found that would work the like Bunnymen Event dishes: one for Hunger, one for Health, one for Sanity, and one that's an All Around dish. Could more be added, sure... these are just a few ideas. 1. Hunger Dish - Durian Salad: 1 Durian + 1 Stone Fruit + 2 Kelp Fronds 2. Health Dish - Durian Fritters: 1 Durian + 2 Corn + 1 Berry 3. Sanity Dish - Durian Ice Cream: 1 Durian + 1 Electric Milk + 2 Ice 4. All Around - Durian Tacos: 1 Durian + 1 Stone Fruit + 1 Onion/Toma root + 1 Corn The stats would be something like better versions of Beefy Greens, Waffles, Ice Cream, and Fish Tacos... but we don't need to worry about that right now. AFFINITIES - Shadow: Wurt can craft and read On Tentacles - Lunar: Wurt can craft and read Sleepytime Stories She loses the ability to gain sanity from these and they now cost sanity per use. So there's a 24-slot skill tree (25 IF the 2 Eels + Tentacle idea gets added) and (I think) these would add some pretty fun/cool game changers to Wurt. The marsh turf could be 1 skill that gives a larger total buff. Needlenosed Fish as a Sewing Kit, that is a pretty cute/funny idea, I like that one. 2. Eels = 3rd hit with electrical damage, that's an improvement from what I suggested. 3. Black Catfish as a bag... that's an interesting idea... not 100% sure about it... but I like where your head is at on that. 4. Affinities that would mutate the Merms into Lunar or Shadow versions of themselves... that's an interesting idea too. Then I definitely would like to see Wurt be able to do some sort of reading-magic. How it works and what she uses to do it... we will leave to the Developers. Let's just hope they want to see that skill added as well.
