Frosty_Mentos
Kinda like in ONI where duplicants would be more satisfied with their surroundings with fine arts and home improvements, the effort you'd put into your builds could increase sanity gain and perhaps would improve some structures giving you better stats? It would be completely negated as there's hounds baying or monsters nearby to disrupt your peace, things like tents would grant higher amount of charges used, clothing deteriorate much slower and provides more sanity for the flower and cleanliness in environment you now control, something to deal with poop and rot like getting those funny little bugs from the Archive to clean your base and store dirty items into places, or even increasing health and durability of walls that now would have actual foundation under them. General QoL update to your home improvements to feel like you actually improved them. Could have scaled furnaces passively cook food that it has near it's light radius and perhaps to dry jerky faster. Biggest issues it could address is clothing usefulness, people complaints of not having a point to any base building and all those skins you release make people want to build and decorate more. If it were added in some way of survival to improve the quality of life it could be a neat update overall. That would be all. You can now stop staring at letters dots and words I've had to imput over the past few mins. Brago-sama
You mean like giving turf besides coblestone and walls a use? Itd be nice but it starts to sound like a new game (then again these updates already have been doing that so... maybe?) Antynomity
As long as it loosely like the room system in ONI so the turf dimensions are restricted, inside of those dimensions certain structures need to be placed, etc, then yes! Clothes won't be fixed by this though, they need to actually be useful enough to make the player concider them instead of a backpack or other head slot item throughout the game, not by the time you're set up in a hostile paradise. Castiliano
Great ideas. I loved the possibility of micro-relationships between different structures. I'll spend some time thinking about it. I always thought that some turfs could give sanity, even if a very small amount and things like that. Or at least minimally increase the effectiviness of your worn hats! Or mildly lowering spoilage of items that aren't on the ground or near rot or poop. Small things. BezKa
No for two reasons: 1. Restricting creativity. ONI is a completely different game, where stuff like this is part of the experience - but in DST if you want to have your crock pots next to your chests full of manure, who cares. If you introduce "zoning" they will become sort of blueprints for a base, and take fun out of organising stuff the way you like it. 2. Base is already the best place you can be, most of the time. The game has to force you out with Bosses, fire hounds, etc. Making it even more of a place you never want to leave is redundant imo. Also: things need to stop getting buffed all the time for no reason, megabasers already do the whole "make your base pretty" without an in-game incentive, some parts of the game take part outside your computer. For example the hounds baying doesn't do anything to your character but might be a stress factor for you, the player, and so having a cluttered base might not impact the character but it might impact you and should be a sufficient motivation to do something about it. And improving stuff so it is more useful/quirky could have been a Wilson thing but we got a skill tree instead so welp Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/150716-comfort-factor-to-building-a-good-base/#findComment-1662365 Share on other sites
