Do you think they should add more difficulty to don't starve together? or at least add more content to the classic version dont starve

Recommended Posts

Personally dont starve togueter I came to like it much more than the classic version but the more updates were added it became more striking that the difficulty went to the background I don't want to say that it is easy to survive all the seasons but with all the tools that are available that sensation

Of course, but the reason why I think most of us grew fond of the game was because of that feeling that you could die at any moment. Also, there is a part of the community that prefers to play dont starve TOGUETER alone, since when playing In a group, the difficulty seems to have decreased to a large extent. It would be considered if they gave the classic single player version some updates or at least not leave it so abandoned, even though they did a big update recently, it still felt like an outdated version. It would be enough to add some things from the togueter like the sea, new recipes, weapons, mobs, etc. At least that, since it is understood that it could not have all the things from the togueter since the exclusivity of this would be lost

that massive update is the last one that the single player would be receiving. the ocean mechanics of DST is built for multiplayer. single DS already has different biomes by its DLCs(shipwrecked and hamlet) and you can hop into each world through seaworthy and skyworthy

Yes. But here's the thing. We collectively got better at the game.

If you were around during the new expansions, you did keep dying too.

Let me put it in perspective,

Spoiler

-Play OG don't starve
-Campfire goes out
-omg uncompromising survival, darkness killed me, lets try again!!! uwu owo buwu bowo
-winter kills you, lack of resource foresight kills you, spider kills you, chop down trees, tree monster kills you, lightning strikes, you die
-And then you find ways to adjust and basically win the game
-Deerclops update, you die
-Reign of giants
-agitate catcoon, die
-Is that a moose, or a goose? Die
-Wow. Summer. the heat is so bad. My base is burning? Oh no! Die.
-I made it to summer again. Hooray. What is that monstrous insect? Die
-I have mastered the game! I have defeated the dragonfly after one full year. Nothing can stop me.
-Bearger? He's huge! omg. But there's nothing that can stop me haha xd. die
-New expansion? On the ocean? Nice
-Play the game the same way as ROG and you die.
-Hamlet comes out and it breaks all the rules of the game.
-Wow, infinite light? OP. This destroys the spirit of the game. I'm going to win at hamlet because this is so easy. Die.

TL:DR, When you're new, things you don't know about are going to kill you. The more you learn with the game, the better you get, the less you die.
Basically, when you improve at the game, you will lose the whimsy and wonder of being bad at the game and dying to every single challenge put ahead of you.

You will never ever enjoy Don't Starve the same way you did when you were playing in your first year. You have lost that forever and you will NEVER have that again.
When you accept that, you learn to enjoy the game  in different ways.

I play on public servers and watch others scurry as they struggle to live. In the past 3 days, I went on a pub server, Killed bee queen, escaped within an inch of my life, gathered jellybeans and watched as a helpless maxwell was being chased by shadow creatures. He was going to die at any moment so I dropped 8 jellybeans to help him out.
I watched him eat all 8 of them in one go.

It's relative. This little roadbump I witnessed is going to be a core memory for this maxwell when he was an inch from death and watched my character weep as he ate 8 jellybeans on a character which has overflow of healing off of 1 single jellybean.

What's easy for me is something that seems impossible for a beginner.

I think the uncompromising group are the most out of touch players in the entirety of the Don't Starve community.
I don't succeed at every solo raid boss I undertake, but I'm not going to go out on a limb and say I'm bad at the game. Some would say I'm quite good, but there are those out there who have never touched a single raid boss who advocate for this game to be amped up in difficulty and at the same time not account for those who are dying before autumn 1.

One last metaphor; there are players who don't die in Dark Souls. Not because the game is easy, it's because their skill surpassed the difficulty.

I think tons of people need to hear this, and if someone is able to rewrite my tirade in a way that is better communicated, feel free.

If you think this game should be more difficult, play blindfolded.

Okok I understand the point for someone who has spent an exaggerated number of hours because it may seem easy as in my case. However; It must be taken into consideration that the latest updates to the skill tree are not exactly the most preferred by a part of the community. I personally think that. Obviously they add these skills to make it easier for new players and it does not stay with the label of difficult or tedious game for some people. I was referring more than anything to that and although it is understood, it would be necessary to evaluate how much the game changes as the last updates of the year are finished.

I think the path klei is trying to do is to cater to both type of players. Ones who are already used to the game and want more challenge. And ones who are new to the game and find it waaay too difficult.

This is why they are adding end game and early game options, and more customizations. Players just need to learn that there is no actual "default" way to play the game. the default settings are just there coz there just needs to be a default setting, not because its the only canon way to play the game.

I'm sorry, but I disagree. I know how hard the game used to be. I also know I've improved. The game today has gotten easier for sure. There are just more tools available to help you survive NOW then there were.

Cactus

People claiming Game didn’t get easier we became more skilled.

LOL Meanwhile I’m over here watching newer players spawn into worlds with extra starting resources & Creature Journal that not only displays their health but also the damage they’ll do to you & cooking recipe cards, oh character reworks, re-reworks & now also skill trees that make them even more powerful.

And All I’ve really got to say is where was this “help” when I started DS Or DST & why .. just now suddenly in 2023 do we need to make all this stuff easier?

Another thing I should point out: when people say they want the game to be harder most of them don’t mean it has to become unplayable- Harder will vary from player to player & skill set to skill set..

Harder for ME is incorporating some of the challenges I enjoyed about the single player game- Such as adding an Adventures Mode, or allowing the way the world is generated to Challenge my Exploration skills- Such as when you needed gas masks for poisoned biomes in Hamlet, or to craft a small raft to cross a pond to reach an otherwise inaccessible side of the jungle. Or to have small weak easy to kill mobs occasionally spawn from the resources in chopping/mining such as Snake or Scorpion.

Harder doesn’t mean every enemy mob needs to have 150,000,000 hp and 1 hit kill you.

Pretty much anyone I've met complaining about the game getting easier are just people refusing to interact with actual new challenges added lol.
Realistically, the effect of most reworks on barebones survival is a minor boon at most for a newbie; most won't even utilize their quirks well and die regardless of whether they're playing a reworked character or an old one. Anyone capable of surviving with a reworked char can absolutely survive as Wilson, the differences aren't as big in bare minimums as they are in QoL.

I just think the "wah my uncompromising game!!" crowd are reminiscing about the first 50 hours that they won't get back regardless of what's added or removed. Game's never been "uncompromising", nor has it been any more "uncompromising" back then than it is now. You just have more ways to do the same things.

I strongly recommend Fear & Hunger to anyone who wishes for a game that actually has historically ever been uncompromising lol. It doesn't matter if you boot up 2013 DS or 2023 DST, game's still easy past the first 50 hours. But a game like F&H will hate you at 2000 hours. It's exactly what you folks would like.

if they plan to make dont starve more difficult i hope they do something similar to what terraria did

which is

higher difficulty = more rewarding items + more content

if they add higher difficulties without any real reason to play them why not just play wes or uncompromising mod at that point

i personaly use uncrompromising mod to play game because its better than vanilla game i recommend this mod anyone if you want the game harder
