Which Bosses to Solo From a Beefalo (currently playing as Maxwell)

I did Ancient Guardian, Deerclops, and Bearger from a Beefalo.  Deerclops was the easiest.  For Moose Goose, I generally needed to run away and feed some beefalo treats before getting back to it.  I don't have the kiting down and a mistake with the goslings can get out of control quickly.

I'm setting up for the Shadow Chess Pieces which I expect to go OK.  My plan was to Cheese Fuelweaver with a Houndius Shootius and 2 spider nests for the bone armor and thurible before attempting Bee Queen or Dragonfly.  Not sure about using the shadow prison on grumble bees or whatever.  I've never fought Crab King.

For moose goose, try the genius strategy of killing the younglings first! What you do is imprison both the mother and the children with the shadow prison, and then you just kill the children while refreshing prison roughly every 2 killed. Completely skips the second phase and makes it a lot easier and shorter imo.

 

Imo, you should only go after fuelweaver when you want to fight him instead of waiting to get it. There's plenty of alternatives to the fuelweaver wombo combo that while aren't as efficient, are sufficient for taking down bosses. But if you are going to go down to route then I'd suggest only having the hounding as having it also have the potential to shoot spiders is... messy to say the least.

 

Tbh, Dragonfly isn't that scary once you get the pattern down, you in no way need the bone armor to decimate her. If your truly worried, but use night armor and a bunch of cooked cactus, no need to go above and beyond for her.

 

Bee Queen is certainly a tough fight for anyone who doesn't have the last name of Carter. For Maxwell, simply imprison all the bees, wait for Bee Queen to break out, put everyone to sleep and reprison the grumbles, summon duelists, and wail on Bee Queen while keeping special attention on keeping all the grumbles in shadow jail. It's going to take effort, but with a little practice you can see how easy she is as Maxwell, especially because he doesn't need speed or panflute shenanigans to win the fight.

Nightmare Werepig tries to make it clear that it's anti-Beefalo by knocking you off with its swipes and swiping at you if you try it remount it in range. This is to warn you that you might lose it in the slam stage. The solution is to leave your bell away from the area you're fighting and if you happen to get hit, either finish it off on foot or go back to remount after you're sure it's not chasing you.

If you can put the boss to sleep/run away in order to safely dismount and heal the beefalo, you can do it. Main bosses you should avoid are fuelweaver, shadow pieces, and celestial champion, kind of. CC will heal if you get too far away from it, so its only really safe to heal at phase changes since its hp is full anyways, and shadow pieces while do able, because of the knight and bishop being night undodgeable, this fight is somewhat dangerous, but when you get to tier 3 rook its pretty free, just make sure you're using at least a regular saddle, glossamer is ideal, just not war saddle since its not fast enough to kite the rook.

Toad on a beefalo is very straight forward, instead of needing like 10 dark swords you just hold f, hell you could forgo weather pains and attack through the damage reduction since beefalo dont have durability, itd take forever but its technically an option

Boss i've succeed solo with maxwell + beef:
4 seasoned boss (df (bring some heal for your beef incase it got low. healing when df spawn lavae, and dance to resummon duelist), Dc, bearger, moose)
AG.
Toad(3 chopper + 2duelist, 4 chopper if you doing misery, summon all 6 if you have bone helm)

CC (use cage when boss ramp up in pharse 1/2, runaway when boss summon gesatl in p3)

Malbatross(face tank it with 5 duelist. Dance + icestaff if boss too far away.)

Eye of terror. (best to do when moonstorm activated, as you can spam cage on them) You could do twin if you have sleep book/panflute.

Nightmare werepig. With cage + duelist.

Boss i have kill when riding beef, with the help of other players (i suggest you shouldnt solo them with beef): AFW and crab king.
For afw, if your sanity low, boss nightmare can knock you out of beef, and boss cage can agroo beef and kill it, so best to do afw with beef is when have other player with low sanity to deal with shadow hand.
For crab king, you cant repair boat while riding beef, and crab deal no damage so beef tanking is not needed.

Correction: CC heals only when unloaded, i.e. when player is more than 16-19 pitchfork tiles away (16 when moving towards boss from far away, 19 when moving from boss away are distances when boss becomes loaded/unloaded respectively). CC can heal more health than full hp of phase as well (I saw it myself with epic healthbar mod in phase 3), so it's best to not leave it unloaded. However, in phase 3 boss doesn't chase player, so there is plenty of space where it's safe to dismount and boss doesn't heal (from my experience it's safe past range of greater gestalt attack). Also one can freeze CC worst case scenario in all phases.

As for OP question, all bosses except Ancient Fuelweaver and Crab King are reasonable to do on beefalo as Maxwell, although among them Shadow Pieces depend on player's kiting skills (one can't take a break as they are immune to sleep and freezing, so one should do them on beefalo only if one can kite them well), and Nightmare Werepig is dangerous because it's attacks knock player from beefalo (can be solved by leaving bell far away). As for other bosses, they are very doable on beefalo, one either should summon 5 duelists and use sanity food when needed if prison is used, or use bone helm and summon all 6, but bone helm and armor are not a requirement, and if one wants to kill Dragonfly/Bee Queen, there is no need to go all the way through killing Ancient Fuelweaver (just use 5 puppets and some cacti).

I dont recomend Daywalker tho one mistake and u r on the floor and the boof is dead, but If u Dodge all the attacks its the same

This is what I do for Dragonfly , and Bee Queen. I know I'm not gonna beat them straight up with my Beef , so I just wail on them and take ¹/⁴ to ¹/³ of their health and hop off to finish the fight by hand , while Beefo runs to safety. Nice way for some bonus damage imo.

 

The Klaus fight is fun as hell with a Beef. Just bring a Pan flute for the Krampus spawn , plus I like to bring 8-10 blue shrooms to heal between Klaus transformations. Very do-able and fun. War saddle helps big time too but not necessary. Try and dodge a lot of his attacks but you can definitely tank a bit as well.
