I imagine the post refers to their canonical choices, which no doubt they'll make. Maxwell's already taken Charlie's side.

I like to believe Klei hinted this whole "choose a side" system way before Taking Root update dropped, in Maxwell and Wilson trailers respectfully.

Charlie herself suggested Maxwell an "encore", making him join shadows once again, and Wilson helping Wagstaff Dont Starve build new portal with crown shard, causing rifts appear in the procces.

Btw, thats why Charlies chess board lacked Wilsons figure - she already acknowledged that our science boy is helping Wagstaff Dont Starve

Why would those sides let them join? They will try to kill survivors on sight.

Do you think the reason Webber isn’t there is because they’re a Grey piece

I mean, Wigfrid and Wickerbottom both got lunar crafts. So did webber if you count the shattered Switcherdoodle. While Wolfgang, Walter, and especially Wanda all got shadow/ruins crafts. So I don't think Klei would have held back a lunar circuit just so WX could get one from lunar alignment.

It's interesting to me that Klei would've had wolfgang be shadow-aligned, because he's afraid of shadows and shadow-related things so you'd expect him to go lunar at first glance, but based on his short it's clear that his fear (weakness) and desire (raw strength) were explicitly offered/shown to him via shadow magic.

I usually think of the hambat as being the iconic wolfgang weapon, but I think that an argument can be made that really it's a dark sword.  Highest raw damage, and while most characters have quotes about it being dark or evil or terrifying wolf's quote is "Is real? Is not real? Is sharp!"

A reoccurring theme with Wolfgang is that he is plagued by fear but overcomes it.

Thematically shadows are more likely to offer straightforward power as opposed by lunar which tends to be more complex, so ultimately I think they made the right choice.

Webber would be more of a neutral party doing there own thing with all of there spiders maybe taking in refugees from both sides and maybe trying facilitate a peace treaty or generally trying to keep the peace or  obviously  not in game but maybe in the shorts the Fusion would put them on the same level as  alter and Charlie or the shadow equivalent of alter that Charlie works on behalf of and there just playing 3 way chess
