It was fine as it was, and now his nose doesn't even face the right way. Only issues with the original were that his head was a bit too detached from his body for my taste, and his leg disconnected from his body for a few frames, but it still an improvement over the new one in every other way. Sorry if this sounds pointless, the new animation isn't terrible, the only reason I'm really upset about this is that it'd be an easy change. Loved the old animation. They should bring back the old idle, this one just looks like he is scratching his chin, which doesn't really symbolize Wilson's character like the old thinking one. It took a few minutes to see the differences, which was which, and why it was an issue, but the expression definitely ended up a bit watered down in the new one. That 'looking off into the distance, holding his chin, and pondering for a moment', it's captured well on the left, but doesn't quite reflect that when he's just staring blankly straight ahead with his hand against his chin instead of holding his chin. The nose/mouth is a bit more obvious. I'm probably not going to lose any sleep over it, but I definitely wouldn't say people are making a big deal out of nothing. It shows that the fans care about the characters, which should be appreciated, and hopefully this minor issue, but an issue nonetheless, will be addressed before too long.
