goblinball
Before the new wilson short, the throne in wilson/wagstaff’s house was foreshadowing for Wilson’s eventual claim of the nightmare throne (probably). However, now that we know that this throne’s original owner was wagstaff, it now has a new meaning. Is the throne’s inclusion in the new short just a reference to the original, or does it imply that wagstaff will eventually claim a magical throne of his own? Maybe he already has. Considering all of the other parallels between wagstaff and Wilson (they are foils, after all) I think it’s pretty likely that the throne is intentional. Duck986
Why is Wilson's new house is the Wagstaff's old one? Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/146566-does-the-throne-mean-anything/#findComment-1625932 Share on other sites
Dextops
plot twist: it's just a chair that klei likes drawing Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/146566-does-the-throne-mean-anything/#findComment-1625933 Share on other sites
maxwell_winters
Read Wagstaff's examination for the throne in Adventure Mode. He's very eager to sit on it. RotTown
Personally? I can buy into the idea of Wagstaff taking claim to the throne (or trying to) in his excursion of the Constant. I'm not entirely sure if that's the direction Klei themselves are heading into, but it'd align with Wagstaff's morally-dubious experimentation(s) and be an interesting way to thrust him into the forefront of the story. It's not unsubstantiated/retconned either, as his interest in the throne stretches back to his dialogue in base-game and reacts differently to his 'Imprisonment' at the end of AM. Whether or not he'd be able to dethrone Charlie is a whole other debate as her ascension has seemingly granted her far more power than Wilson and Maxwell ever had. I'm not sure if the addition of the chair in Wilson's short is any more foreshadowing, though. It seems like an intentional call-back to the original short for DS' debut, as his chair was something of a focal point then. I'd argue that Wilson and Maxwell are more direct foils than Wagstaff/Wilson as they seem to be directly paralleling each other (again) with the newest development of Wilson/Wagstaff vs Maxwell/Charlie. It's all up for debate though, and it's fun to look at everything 'nd discuss it.
