Beehives should be added to world regrowth *settings

Recommended Posts

I made a post last week asking if Wilson could craft honeycomb since it is a very limited resource late game yet all It's used for is decorating with giant crops at that point. (At least that's what I use it for). It seems this may not be considered so I am suggesting that we have the option to turn on world regrowth settings for Beehives to have more renewability of honeycomb. This would make it so we no longer need to have a loot world for extra honeycomb, and could perhaps farm honey comb every spring when they respawn. Unless Wilson CAN craft it then perhaps costing a few live bees and some honey would suffice. Yet I think this regrowth addition would be nice.

i love to decorate with natural beehives but they usually spawn near goose nests in my worlds :_

Yeah it would be nice to have the regrow as then we could break the ones we don't like and hope they regrow elsewhere

Honestly I kind of thought they already did come back with world regrowth. Why don't they? You can get honeycomb from Bee Queen if you really need it for crafting, but I don't think there's an urgent game-balance reason to limit it to that, since the amount of wax you get from destroying every beehive is more than enough to make a huge pile of several dozen bundling wraps.

Yeah this is exactly what I thought, In the settings there is an option to turn up how many that spawn originally,  but not any to have world regrowth, meanwhile the bees have the ability to make new flowers during spring, but they can't make their own beehive? I figure it should at least be an option in the settings

How about instead we get a lunar/shadow recipe that lets us craft bee hives and killer beehives as structures using a honeycomb as material gives another thing to use honeycombs for and gives us a way to increase the bee population in the world in a more natural way rather than just letting the world passively fix it. Also I'm sure megabaser would love adding hives to base building.

first of all, this is a thread about making honeycombs and bee hives renewable besides queen bee's drops

second, being able to craft killer bee hives gives people a whole new way of griefing bases by placing hives everywhere and waiting for the chaos with other mobs to unfold

I mean I believe klaus drops them too with a certain chance but otherwise I agree that if people want another way adding them to regrowth would be the best option for people who want them passively.

You say this like there aren't far better griefing tools you could use I don't really think this matters compared to other options available unless we adress far easier options.

This is one of the things that should work like Spider Dens (and now also Catcoon Dens) Do- Catcoon dens will Respawn overtime, and a single Spider will wander around eventually creating a nest, if that nest is left unattended too long it’ll upgrade to tier 2, 3 then Queen, if the Queen is ignored long enough.. she’ll burrow back into the ground and revert to tier 1.

Bees and Bee nests in real life work this way, you destroy their nest, they’ll relocate, pollinate and rebuild.

I think these AND Swamp Tentacles should regenerate.

Hold up is this true? I feel like I've never heard of this.

No is not, lone/homeless spiders (all types) just loiter around, sleeping during day-time, till eventually getting killed. Is just Mike's classic misconceptions.

As for Killer/Beehives regenerating akin Catcoon Dens... pls no. Am sure, if coming to pass, would be another default setting making public servers (almost-always on default) even more painful, since that Killer Biome one has annihilated via Abi, DC, Bear, Forest Walker for comfort reasons would solely be "coming back with a vengeance" every theoretical year for additional extermination mandatory "quests". We get plenty Honey Combs from deconstructing Bee Crowns (BQ farms & Klaus loot) and Wax Paper (at least 4x per Winter from default-spawning Klaus). Universal environmental cons outweigh the minor contextual (and "mega-basers" minority-oriented) bons in general server crowd for Killer/Bee Hives and proposed Tentacles regeneration to become game mechanics.

Spiders & Bees can be obtained (albeit at very low odds) from harvesting dessert tumbleweeds, opening one of these up, obtaining a spider and then leaving it be without killing it, will eventually create a new spider nest. I don’t play on PC to read into game files on how the game works, but over on Xbox this has been my observation.

Which left me to wonder why can’t the Bees you obtain from these Tumbleweeds regenerate in the same way?

Both can be obtained from tumbleweeds after being hunted into extinction.

You already get loads of honeycomb if you kill BQ every 20 days and deconstruct the crowns, I really don't see the issue, personally.

My main suggestion is that it, like the Grass/Twigs/Flint/Berry Bushes regrowth settings, should be off by default, and simply give us the option to turn it on so people like myself can do these massive builds with all the pretty crops that need to be waxed. It's really just a small settings change to fix the issue. Also I can tell you this, we have the BQ turned up to the fastest possible respawn timer, and we spam kill her and deconstruct her crowns only for 4-6 honeycombs a fight. It's hardly worth the effort of a tedious fight and a ruins level item for such a minimal outcome.
