how should I ban people from new world.

Recommended Posts

I saw it on streaming that, there was one dude making a live on the internet about dst. what he/she did is not regular playing. He/she was joining those hundred days world with no password. this dude just burn their bases while the host was not there. killing their beefalo, ate all their foods.
I understand that everyone had done this before.

However,
This dude had done this for 10 days. On streaming . Think about it. Destorying others' world, killing ppl's trust on each other.

I wondered is there a way to make a mod so that we can ban people if we know their klei ID?

The current system only allows people to ban players in the current world.

Send KLei the link of this steaming chap's video with mass trolling. There's likewise this mod, but people (or maybe trolls, to not get reported further on) say is defunct: NoGriefer. From what I remember was a pretty effective mod, getting griefers kicked left-and-right to the point they were coming here, on KLei forums, to "Weah!" about it. Also you know what? Post the stream of said troll, fukk it - he wants to be famous for being a wonderful human manure with eyes, make him even more famous.

Klei is not responsible for dealing with griefers. Do not post the streamer's channel here either as that would encourage witch hunting. Ban them from your own world should they join you.

When some streamer advertises to a (theoretical) large number of watchers such a detrimental behavior for community at large I believe is something KLei should look into. Because can disrupt their sales on long term - random people tend to imitate what they see "0n teevee", and having a consistent amount of people mass trolling pubs after watching such shenanigans can lead to game getting bad publicity and refunds. And yes, post the streamer for all of us to see if OP's allegation is valid or not, and if OP has any merit or just some hypothetical situation. Again: if chap wants to be famous, let 'im be famous for the exact reason he streams himself for.

Sure, it might prove if OP is being true about their story but it could also worsen the situation. OP has little reason to lie about this anyways if they haven't posted a name so it would be a bad idea risking it now.

Bad for whom? For the griefer streamer? Then, if true, yes, it should be bad - very bad.

One more note about it to be effective: you will probably need to be at least few days before griefer, otherwise people might want to kick you instead because "alerts are annoying" or "you don't have proof", but maybe it was because I was (un)lucky of finding person who stopped those deeds. Or maybe it was a griefer group.

For everyone involved. Simply put, nothing that great can come from an internet hunt on a single person.

The current system only allows people to ban players in the current world.

If world exists on dedicated server, owner can make impossible for particular user to even join server, provided one knows either KU ID of user or their Steam64ID.

For dedicated server made with help of Nodecraft there is excellent guide:

I'm not sure if that works the same for dedicated server that is run on personal machine, but since there are very little differences in other aspects, one might as well try do same steps in this case.

Quick summary of that guide:

1. Remember their in-game name at the moment they did harm.

2. Go to server folder, open server_log.txt file.

3. Search here word "authenticated", that should redirect you to places where unique user number is written (KU ID). Find KU ID of person in question.

4. In the same folder where Master and Caves folders are located create blocklist.txt file and paste here KU ID or Steam64ID of user you want keep from joining server.

KU ID is more universal way to identify player since not every DST player uses steam and thus has Steam ID, but every player has KU ID, as far as I know. Number you need to put into blocklist.txt would look like "KU_AABBCCDD".

If it's not dedicated server, you may still try do same things as structure of folders is essentially the same, just make sure in all those cases you make backup of folder first (copy save file folder to somewhere unrelated to DST folder before doing any changes).

If someone has more detailed knowledge about this case, please correct my reply by leaving yours.

Edit: in-game name is used only to find KU ID of particular user. After that is done player would be banned on that server even if they change name.

Of course something good would come out of this: getting such stream deleted for people not to imitate described trolling behavior - and sending a message about trolling/griefing, as in something not desired, since it would be malicious game-play. If happened on Twitch I reckon would be against some ToS clauses. Same for YouTube. Inasmuch as you basically describe/show [to] people how to terminate other players' game sessions/compromise their game-plays. It would not be any "witch hunt" but a proven troll reported as malicious player streaming prejudicial game-play.

..on dedicated server..

While what you describe is the right way to deal with such scenarios for one's dedicated server, I believe OP meant to ask KLei what their stance is on this particular case, of a streamer streaming themselves griefing multiple servers (and probably monetizing those streams, in essence monetizing detrimental behavior advertised for DST player-base, or parts of it depending on one's reach and subscribers amount).

It's true that at first I was confused about purpose of OP's post, since title says "How should I ban people from new world". My reply answers exactly that - how to ban people from particular world (at least I tried as best as I can). If, among other things, OP wants to help people to protect their worlds and happens to know them well enough to contact them, then again, OP could share this tactic with, for example, normal streamers that could be harmed by described griefer streamer.

I agree though that streaming griefing and popularizing it is way too much, and even considering how lenient Klei are to griefers this case is beyond lowest debths of impudence. Plus it can have global impact on game itself.

But if Klei ignores this case much like they did with previous ones, OP will know about at least some countermeasures that can be taken instead of having impression that everything is in vain against griefers.

Do you know how to send message to klei? I really don't wanna to just publish the link here, publicly. Thx.

2. 转到服务器文件夹,打开 server_log.txt 文件。

您需要放入 blocklist.txt 的数字看起来像“KU_AABBCCDD”。

Cool this is so helpful.

On a more direct communication, you could PM JoeW - he seems most active site admin here and he might listen to your plead and advice you better.
