Do you think Wicker should be able to use the Codex Umbra?

Max can use her books but he gets WAY less mileage before shadows start spawning. This can be circumvented in a variety of ways, the severity of this is greatly diminished once you get a Bone Helm.

The main argument I've seen used for Wicker not being able to use the codex is her quote, so how about this:
Wicker gets a new quote and the ability to use the codex while she is insane. As in, she can use it but only while being pestered by shadow creatures, at least until she gets access to a Bone Helm.

The quote could be something along the lines of "Desperate times require desperate measures", "I fear I am starting to think like him", etc.

Going further, if this becomes a thing, maybe make so only Max can refuel the Codex? This would make it similar to when Max uses her books, having to bulk craft the Codex Umbra if you want to use it as Wicker without having a Max around.

Or maybe she just doesn't want to interact with the object responsible for everyone being trapped in a lovecraftian purgatory. Maxwell is a fool and needs to compensate for not being on the throne and that's why he still uses it

I think that while she is insane (especially as someone who doesn't sleep) she could start treading in a more grey area. The book already trapped us here, what's the worst that could happen?

She doesn't seem opposed to the fuel itself, nor to ruins loot or Bone Armor/Helm, her quotes even rationalize what the Night Armor and Dark Sword do. To me it seems her hate for the codex (how powerful is it even, lore-wise?) is mostly emotional, with her being a logical person + insane (even more so if we compare insanity to being tired, too tired to feel emotions) makes so it doesn't seems out of place if she wasn't completely opposed to using this tool at her disposal.

She doesn't hate Maxwell (even calls him a sweet boy* *terms apply), doesn't go out of her way to stop him from using the codex or anything.

Maybe Wickerbottom isn´t using it because she hates it, but because she fears it.
The knowledge in the books she read made her unable to sleep. Imagine what horrors would the darkest book in existence do to her own mind? Maxwell has a strong mind, being able to withstand its effects. But she is not like him, she is weaker.

I would easily say she has a more durable mind since she can withstand ACTIVE insanity for the longest out of anyone in the cast.

Besides, she changed her mind about domesticating a Varg already("impossible" to "an entertaining challenge"). Just because she's cold towards the codex doesn't mean she can't eventually welcome it.

"I'm not letting THAT in MY library!"
Ms. Wickerbottom's deal in the real world was about controlling what knowledge people saw and what knowledge was hidden away, and I have a feeling that this is connected to her quote. The Codex contains knowledge about the shadows that could drive people insane, so I think her quote says that she would not put it on display in her library case someone finds it.

I think that she herself is slightly afraid of Their magic, such as in her quote for the Shadow Atrium: "This... This is no child's magic." but I don't think she'd be opposed to taking advantage of it. She's meddled with all sorts of magic before, and her unused quote for Shadow Diggers implies she's open to it: "Well, I suppose we did need an extra set of hands... Hm."

I think a revised quote for the Codex would express similar reluctance. Would weaker abilities for the same amount of sanity be a good representation of that?
