Heat not transferred in same room?

Recommended Posts

Do biomes produces heat/cold themselves so a cold biome stays cold and a warm one stays warm? Or are biomes created with a specific temperature and given enough time all biomes would eventually level themselved to 1 temperature?

Screenshot attached of an alien room that exists since the start of the game(60 cycles since). the room shares some cold and some warm biome. the air in it goes from one tile to another from 24 to 9 degrees. I would think the temperature in this one room would have leveled already

Biomes will settle on a specific temperature over time, specially when they're in contact with each other... A layer of abyssalite will prevent this to a satisfactory level if it's 2 tiles wide or more, for example...

Points of Interest like your Critter Scanner can cause Abyssalite breaks between biomes which can and will facilitate temperature transfer over time.  If the room is a vacuum, low pressure or a low thermal conductivity gas (like CO2) the temperature gradient could stay for a long period of time.

Everything will settle, sort-of. But it will take extremely long, like 1M cycles or longer and tile differences of less than 1C or below some other limits will stop leveling:

WWs and geysers may influence that as they delete/generate heat. Everything else created naturally on a map just has a starting temperature.
