I understand that it's intentional (if I could find the OG post), but it would nice if he would since it's just an extra step of converting them into eggs that PK will actually accept. I’m pretty sure it’s a gameplay mechanic that prevents the player from becoming a Bazillionaire over night, It doesn’t really need a Lore Reason why he won’t take them..
