Should griefers/trolls be taken into account for the updates?

Only very rarely (where it can even affect "normal" gameplay) or in the event it's an exploit.

The one case that I still think should be addressed is how the Terraria bosses spawn.

It really should be a range from the terrarium, not the whole server, as it doesn't only affect people who play on pubs but also for servers with friends or just a lot of people scattered in the world.

I can't tell if your being willfully malicious or not at this point this isn't a new point and you've been told about this multiple times and I said strawman earlier because you keep willfully leaving out information as you are now to make your point and weaken your opponent's argument which is exactly that. Multiple benefits of the full moon have been brought up multiple times beyond light op and were pig good and the argument was never wickerbottom alone that could hold the server hostage it was that the group that had wickerbottom had the final say.

They already are taken into account by not having a character whose kit is entirely made for griefing and nothing else

We will be getting one for preventing Woodies playing as Woodie during night time, is that what you really want more of? Not to mention forcing sanity food into people farming fuel, having spider/merms to prevent people from easily accessing caves and/or your base. Preventing people from doing stuff is often a double edged sword, you can stop griefing or grief with it

Those are the griefers griefing in a server which has no regulation. The game is designed to work together as a team, and server admins already have tools to deal with people that are not friendly.

Exactly, there is no need to make characters specifically to stop other characters from doing stuff

Klei has been fixing the griefing slowly by making everything in the world renewable.

Hope they just keep doing that.

That way, no matter the damage a griefer does, you can always rebuild even in pubs.

If the trolls can grief the entire server in a matter of seconds… yes? I mean to argue this point would be like playing Apex Legends and some modder hacks the game to immediately stick every other player with enough sticky grenades that they all die.. 

Cheating, Illegal, they’ll likely get banned once caught- but it’s griefing the entire server of players- and that’s why games like Apex Legends have frequent tampering checks so the game runs as fairly as it can.

Wickerbottom is the only character in the entire game that I know of who’s abilities effect the entire game server.

I feel like at least some sort of balance needs to be considered.. and as a friendly reminder: even CO-OP games that have no PVP mode whatsoever can and often do get balance/grief prevention changes.

DST isn’t sacred… it should have to consider these anti-griefing changes too- as any “stable” multiplayer game has to consider.

Using State of Decay & State of Decay 2 as reference- in SOD: players could blow up cars or flip them upside down, get them stuck in the game world undriveable and they wouldn’t be able to get do anything else with them.

When SOD 2 came out and went multiplayer vehicles had to be changed so that blown up cars can be repaired, vehicles that are flipped upside down can be flipped back over, and if you get your car stuck you can use an “unstuck” button to warp the car back to a previous position-

Yes this took a lot of realism out of the game, but it had to be done to prevent trolls from stealing, blowing up, crashing or flipping your cars.

GTA V and GTA Online are the same way.. in GTA V players can actually lose the entire wheels off their vehicles and be wind shield cannoned out the window during wrecks in Online play however.. this isn’t available because other players would just ram right into you head on all the time.

Online multiplayer games have to make sacrifices to be multiplayer- that’s just common gamer knowledge…

And we shouldn’t use the excuse that DST isn’t a PvP game so it doesn’t need to be balanced.

I can name off several COOP only multiplayer games that still needed “Balance” such as: Borderlands, State of Decay, 7 Days to Die, and Marvels Avengers.

Klei, just like all these other developers, has to atleast take into consideration the greifing potential X or Y feature has when the game is no longer a single player game. 

Any time you take a single player game franchise and adapt it to multiplayer- changes will need to be made.

Mike, did you know that ice does the same thing?

It's much easier to obtain, costs no sanity, and can be done by anyone.

None of these things lets you stand away from the firepits and extinguish them- I can barely come into screen view of some noobs huddled by their campfire, or better yet if several noobs are huddled by separate campfires- and extinguish them all simultaneously with the pyrokinetics book.

Two Campfires for Deerclops fight? Extinguished! Meanwhile evil wicker sits laughing historically at the chaos.

Sure.. I could run between each individual fire with a watering can and ice to extinguish them, or I can use my Merlin powers to put them out with a gust of cool breeze.

Which reminds me… why is tempering temperatures and pyrokinetics explained two separate books again???

Why not just combine them into a strong gust of wind, which cools the player, blows out campfires, and can probably also help speed boost boat masts?

There are certain things though that this update really brought into mind.
 Like rain can really screw over players if they are not ready for it
Ever had that day 6 autumn rain that lasts for half the season.
There are certain things that klei really had to to change about characters.
LIke woodie and willow were ones affected
woodies infinate hammer and mining was nerfed for together and you couldn't do it all the time cause  the log meter would get filled up.

Plus the sanity fires from willow that being a random element would really destroy bases back then because dst did not have the smolder mechanic
it used to have the instant lighting that single player don't starve had.

mean technically a wicker could troll with tentacles and end is nigh anyway.  Ive seen it happen

In the years of being a moderator for some servers
our tools certainly have gotten better with dealing with griefing.

I was going to suggest Ice Staff as well, but then I realized I've never actually used an Ice Staff on a firepit before, but strangely I knew partially that the mechanic existed. o.o I need to put that on my todo list lol.
