Care Packages make it unnecessary to leave the starting asteorid for much longer

There are game files that define what will be printed by the printer pod without discovery first.

Slicksters do not require discovery. But plastic, amusingly does.

But when I first played Spaced Out i didn't realise it was this unbalanced.

I'm not quite sure what you mean by 'unbalanced.'  In most games, "balanced" implies that players at a given point in the game will all be at relatively the same standing.  This usually only applies to multi-player games, or storyline/roleplay games.  You're playing a sandbox game where you can click a box that will let you add any item you want directly to the game.  Don't have steel or plastic and want to build a steam turbine?  Turn on sandbox, find the turbine, chose 'steel' as the metal, click on the map, and its done.  No dupes necessary.  Running out of oxygen?  Turn on sandbox and paint in a lot of extra oxygen.  Compared to either of these two things, a useful item or resource every 4 cycles is nothing.  If you want a challenge, that is a choice you can make -- but it is a choice YOU make, and not one imposed on you by the game.

Can confirm. I have not seen slicksters, shove voles, pacu, pufts, or drekkos in a map where I've spent 300+ cycles on the starting asteroid without activating the teleporters or doing any space scanning.  I started on the irradiated asteroid, and until I dug out the ONE hatch near the printing pod, I didn't even have those pop up as possibilities.  I have not seen plastic, petroleum, or natural gas.  I _did_ get 3 wheeze warts, but that was because I found them while rummaging in a crashed satelite.

Thats nonsense, just because snadbox mode exists doesnt mean game cant have balance. Sandbox mode is another mode. Oni also has survival mode, and while its not particularly challenging, triviliazing it with spawning objects would ruin the game for many.

I'm sorry, but I must disagree.  I have never gotten a drop from the printing pod that trivialized anything.  I always play in survival mode, often with hunger and stress set higher than default, with the sandbox turned off.  These are my personal preferences.  I have been playing since ONI first showed up for play testing on Steam, and I have never gotten anything from the pods that altered my long-term goals for any map. I have received useful things occasionally, such as extra lime, but nothing that trivialized or unbalanced any map I was playing.

I wasnt neccesarily talking about printing pod, i was talking about your comment that oni is sandbox game where you can click a box that will let you add any item you want directly to the game, and that somehow makes diffculty not matter. I have no strong feelings about printing pod.

I play without packages but I do use teleports. Turn off anything you want. Install diseases expanded mod, install darkness mod, hazardous materials mod (chemical burns from chlorine, cold damage etc). Suffer as much as you want.

You chose to play easy don't complain about it.
