goatt
The goal is to make it easier to explore for new players, and faster to craft with less mouse travel and more sensical to categorize for me as a veteran. 1. There are 3 main structure tabs, and they should be grouped together. In base building, I'll be pretty much going back and forth among those 3 tabs plus kitchen tab. It would make sense to put them together. 2. Beefalo tab should just use a beefalo face icon. The saddle icon is less obvious for new players to recognize, and less curious or interesting for them to explore than a beefalo face icon. How can this change be justified? First, let's look at other tabs, there are 3 types of icons - using something in its tab as icon, such as axe/pickaxe icon, log suit icon, crockpot icon, pig house icon, umbrella icon, they are all just a tool in that tab. - using motivation as icon, such as carrot icon, which is the goal of farming tabs, heart icon, which is the goal of healing tab. - using potential danger as icon, such as snowflakes and sun - the rest is just whatever types, such as science tab, refine tab and magic tab. Currently, saddle tab is using a tool in its tab as its icon. But the saddle looks unrecognizable and uninteresting. That's where my suggestion comes in. Another reason is that I think for new players especially, using a goal or reward as icon gives better feedback loop than a unfamiliar/unknown tool icon. (2.1. Because of the same reason, I also suggested fishing tab icon be replaced by a fish icon. The fishing rod is a bit hard to recognize too. But I think that change brings less difference than the major 2.) Final result: with minor change of (relative) icon locations and replacement of beefalo icon Difference Spoiler Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/138509-suggestion-crafting-menu-icons-minor-re-arrangement-change/ Share on other sites
SuperDonuts
The fish icon in pretty straightforward. But I agree on Beefalow. Maybe they designed it to be generic for any animals we can use. Currently, only beefalow can be used (and bees, actually), but maybe more will come. Imagine a milking machine for volt-goat. Cheggf
Beefalo head and fish icons would look terrible. I guess decor could be moved but it's not really important or even objectively better. HumanBean150
I wouldn't mind the building tabs being grouped together, but I don't think a beefalo head being the icon is a good idea, and instead of the top right being beefalo, it would be better as cooking, because the tabs tend to somewhat follow an order of more important in the top left, to less important in the bottom right. reallychina
the beef icon is fine as is, should not be changed however your point on order is decent, but not the way you solved it. beef should replace decorations as you said then decorations - buildings - storage - cooking - farming or buildings - storage - cooking - farming - decorantions decorations should no go in between Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/138509-suggestion-crafting-menu-icons-minor-re-arrangement-change/#findComment-1551411 Share on other sites
