No it couldn't because the REASONS behind "having no access to something at all feels bad" and "I want everything for free because I wanna use it" are entirely different and I'm not trying to make the latter a point. As I said before, people have preferences, just because YOU don't personally like the skin doesn't mean I should stick to the victorian fire pit because "it's much better looking" to YOU specifically, or using the default fire pit because "it's so similar". I am fully aware that we have like 7 options for fire pits that aren't the stone kiln or the bottomless pit. I am using those in a bunch of builds myself. That doesn't mean I am only gonna stick to a single fire pit though, I use different ones whenever it suits the current build. All I am saying is that I would love to have access to the bottomless pit because it would look nice in certain builds to have a fire pit that is a bit less extravagant than the fancy options we have, while not being JUST the default pit or the fanged pit. In other words I just like having different options since for certain builds, at least to me, skins aren't interchangeable. I just don't see at all how asking for some kind of way to access something we have only had access to for a brief period of time or never had access to in the first place leads someone to immediately think that by this logic everything should be free. There's a huge enough difference from those two things in my eyes that they don't relate as closely as they are made out to be. Jumping from one thing to the other is not a slippery slope, that's more like... well it's a jump. Yes, I did say it sucks not having options for building, but just using that phrase alone out of context from the rest of my argument and then telling me that I should not be allowed to have the wish to use a skin in a video game because the phrase that was ripped out of context on its own can lead to a slippery slope is just super rude in my eyes. I personally don’t care for it at all but there are definitely people who do want it, and I think making it inaccessible to them because “sorry nerd you found out about DST a couple years too late better luck next time!!!” or “I don’t think the skin is good so clearly no one else wants it and therefore no one else can have it” is a bit stupid. Point links release mostly consistently. You just have to wait roughly the same time as everyone else to get the same amount of points. Unlike Twitch drops which were advertised and work as Twitch drops do in other games this was an untold surprise which is now working as early access rewards do in other games. The EA reward is a fire pit that looks slightly different. Other games have huge EA rewards like several skins which make huge changes and are some of the best and most unique skins in the game. One: Comparing a skin you can use ingame on something is already way different from something like a profile background or icon, but besides that, the context within which both the bottomless pit and gorge icons were given out are way way different. Yes both are technically timed exclusives in a way, but one of them is literally just a timed exclusive because someone was early enough to know and buy the game during early access, whereas the other one is a reward for participating and/or winning in a tournament that obviously can't last forever, not to mention there really isn't a big difference between the profile backgrounds you could win vs the ones you can just weave other than the border, so that is already an extremely unfair and lobsided comparison. Two: Comparing ingame items that could quite literally just be a type of rarity with something that signifies to people whether or not someone is an admin or mod on the forums doesn't make any sense. Same goes for your comparison with hamlet being available for free. Same goes for getting DST for free during beta. In the latter cases nobody complains because this whole discussion isnt about whether its unfair that you now have to pay a whole 15 bucks for a different game, its about whether or not that thing is available at all, which if dst wouldnt be anymore because its a timed exclusive for some reason, would be a gigantic point for a lot of people to be upset over, rightfully so. Three: Disagreeing in itself is neither stupid nor is it bad in any way, it can just end up in unnecessarily longwinded arguments if when someone points out their view somebody else suddenly says "btw your view is stupid because I disagree and thus my opinion is", apparently, "the one you should obide by." Nevermind the fact that the only one who has really been disingenuously misquoting people in this entire discussion here is you. You can have your opinions on things all you want, nobody is arguing about that, just don't be so incredibly rude when doing so and then get up on a high horse when you are called out. Yes, I love how it looks, but there are many firepit skins already, most of them are really good, at least it's not like with the gorge tournament where I was just unable to understand how to enter it (I barely knew english at that point), that icon is something I'm mad about not getting after realising how easy entering the tournament was. I couldn't buy the game for like a year and a half after it came out lmao, I bought the game right after forge S1 ended which is the end of 2017. I don't see anything wrong with giving it the Torch treatment. Timeless for OGs, Loyal for the reward version, either counts for completion.
