Multiplayer Suggestion

I've seen several mutliplayer threads on the forums, so obviously there is interest in the community. The general issue is usually that the game is mostly dupe-action limited, so multiplayer doesn't really work. What if 2 players each started on a different asteroid but connected by a teleporter? For more balance, they could share the same 3 cycle cooldown on the printer pod, the way that the main one and the mini ones do. If there were both different asteroid types, you could have each player be somewhat specialized but also mostly managing their own colony but able to share resources and occasional dupes through the teleporter.

Multiplayer is likely doable in quite a few ways but it`s not easy to make it enjoyable. Everybody wants something different. If we make them start on different asteroids there is very little interaction between players. Now who does control the dupe sent through a teleporter? Who controls dupes on other planetoids?

IMO multiplayer needs a lot of rethinking how the game works and that`s not easy. Not to mention it needs to be synced so gamespeed and pause would be an issue. And on top of that performance. That`s the biggest problem. Game struggles with one player. I can`t imagine how will it work with multiple.

Then why are you creating yet another duplicate?

 

Literally the only subforum without a multiplayer thread on the front page, is the DLC Suggestions one.

To create yet another, in the wrong forum, when there's one literally two posts below is just spam at this point.
