Sulfur in base game

Recommended Posts

How do you use sulfur without Spaced Out! DLC? I mean, I can melt it and flush into space or build some natural tiles, but maybe I can use it for more advanced setups, like for heat production or something? Any buildings with any level of difficulty are appreciated.

Sulfur does have a use in the base game and it is solely to nerf sour gas boilers... put players have almost no use for it.

@Fradow mentions sulfur-less boilers but he is probably remembering an ancient version of the game before sulfur was implemented.  If you condense sour gas into methane 1/3 of the mas becomes sulfur.  If there's a way around that I'd love to hear it.

Even with sulfur being near-useless in the base game, even a small sour gas boiler can still produce a lot of power, since there is no nuclear in the base game...

Sulfur might be useful in the DLC but it is also more plentiful, usually 2 sulfur geysers providing on average 1.5kg/s each are provided sometimes only a teleport away.  That's enough to support 180 Grubfruit or 90 Sweetles.  So if you do build an SGB in the DLC the sulfur will have a use, but you are unlikely use all the sulfur you produce.  Even a 2kg crude/s SGB produces 400kg sulfur per day, enough by itself to feed 40 Grubfruit or 20 Sweetles. (Also the sulfur comes out cold unlike the molten sulfur from the geyser.)

I think @Fradow refers to something like this
