Fully Automated Interplanetary Trade Route!

Recommended Posts

After fiddling around with the mechanics for awhile, I managed to set up my first fully-automated interplanetary trade route this morning!

The Spirit of Inspiring Adeos V travels back and forth from my water-starved main planetoid and the nearby forest planetoid carrying much-needed liquids.  On landing, the atmo gauge (set to green when > 100g) triggers, setting the memory toggle green.  The bottom filter gate counts off 60 seconds for loading or unloading the cargo and restocking the cabin before setting both the launch signal and the fuel valve to green.  The left filter gate counts off 90 seconds for refueling and pilot arrival and then resets the memory toggle red.

The rocket interior contains an unplugged refrigerator with a few kg of grubfruit preserves (16 cycle shelf life), a bathroom, an oxyfern, and a canister emptier that's disabled by the automatic airlock when the pressure is greater than 2kg.

The key change from before is that I realized how the crew mode AUTO works. I realized that the tooltip is exactly correct (apparently I was an idiot before) - it allows dupes to move freely until the checklist is ready. By setting the max fuel in the CO2 engine to 30kg (25kg one way) and delaying refueling for the first 60 seconds, I force the checklist to "not ready" and allow dupes to enter and exit freely for those first 60 seconds.  So far that's enough time to restock, but if it's not I can always increase it.  I worry mainly about the outhouse.

Thanks for the info.

The 'plant' based regeneration setup isn't going to keep up and can't be turned off automatically when rocket is not used( There is very little that can be set up in such a limited space.

Suggestion: Some co2 scrubber variant (preferably compact 2x1 device) that works purely based on manual labor and works like existing scrubber otherwise.
