colorfulcookie2 Posted September 25, 2020 Share Posted September 25, 2020 I feel like Walter is too spread out in perks and downsides, so I have some ideas for Walter: Firstly the slingshot should have it's ammo types deal 25,51,75,100 damage. Going from pebbles to gold ammo, to marble ammo, and cursed rounds. This might seem a lot of damage, but if it fires half the rate of melee weapons, Pebbles will kill slower than a Walking Cane, Gold Ammo will kill slower than a Axe, Marble Ammo will kill slower than a battle spear, and Cursed Rounds will kill slower than a tentacle spike. So to finish the buffs to the slingshot, instead of firing half the rate of a melee weapon, maybe fire 2/3 the rate of a melee weapon. That way the slingshot is versatile and not terrible at killing hostile mobs. Also many people in the past say that a buff to the range of the slingshot will be helpful. To make him more dependent on the slingshot, we could make him deal 25% less damage when using melee weapons only. This discourages melee fighting and more ranged combat. Next we could adjust some stats. His hunger could use a buff, and his Health could be nerfed to further encourage ranged combat. Lastly, we can remove some of the small upsides and downsides, like taking extra damage from bees is very minimal and usually does not affect gameplay. The Bee Queen is often killed by the help of other mobs like Bunnymen. We can also remove the sanity gain from trees as they affect gameplay very little. And removing the hunger when efficiency sleeping, and lastly removing the faster cooking rate, because I do not see why Walter can cook as fast as Willow who controls fire. Feel free if you think the changes are too drastic or too small! Superwolfkid Posted September 25, 2020 Share Posted September 25, 2020 I agree with some of these and disagree with some others, I'll probably type something about it in another comment on here, but I did have two ideas but I didn't get the chance to say them before they patched him. 1. So this is a reference to the idea oh how Fallout exploration works, to make him more nomadic and to replace the Tree sanity mechanic, whenever Walter comes across a set piece for the first time, maybe have it where he sprouts a unique quote for that setpiece, has a unique mark on his map, and regains a bit of sanity as a reward for finding the setpiece this perk can also help players find better markings of where they are when they are lost. 2. Also to add up to the nomadic playstyle, allow Woby to carry two players, having the second player be a "passenger" as Walter can only be the "driver". When Walter gets off, the passenger player has to get off as well, this is an excellent tool for early game and late game acting as a sort of chauffeur role to the game as it also especially helps Woby differentiate from a basic rideable beefalo.(side note please allow players to open Woby's inventory while riding her, I'm tired of getting on and off just to remember I don't need an item that I actually do need. colorfulcookie2 Posted September 25, 2020 Author Share Posted September 25, 2020 Thank you for the suggestions , Walter's Slingshot should still probably get some damage buff, but maybe a small amount to 21,42,63,75 and 2/3 melee fire rate since it is still very slow at firing (currently it fires half the rate of a melee weapon), These are fairly more reasonable damages, as marble rounds still get out dps'd by battle spears and marble is painful to renew. 63 damage per shot seems more reasonable. 75 damage might sound like a lot for cursed rounds, but this is a ruins item, and now it will still deal a lower dps than an spike, and Shadow Tentacles it spawns are not too reliable. Also for the Rework, maybe the slingshot could get more ammo types. I'm happy with a ranged weapon that's just okay I really do not want any sort of buffs.
