Wumpus the 19th
With both the re-organizing of prestige into larger prestiges and the addition of an entire custom game menu, i feel it'd be good to make a prestige customization menu in there. Simply put, the prestige effects are put into a checklist like mutators. This can help customize your difficulty to cater to certain playstyles, with the big prestige bricks being official challenges made by klei. For example, you're good at deckbuilding but not the best at meta game play decisions like shill efficiency. You can turn on Higher resolve and Health but keep off 25% higher costs so you can keep more of what you make but instead focus difficulty on making those shills. enabling these would disable normal prestige levels, but you get more options to play with once you unlock that corresponding prestige, allowing players who are unconfident in their skills to ease themselves into the massive prestige levels. RageLeague
Yeah, I feel like something like Invisible Inc's system would work. It has multiple difficulties, and the game settings are customizable. However, only the ones provided by the devs allow achievement unlocks. pacovf
Or the Bastion/Transistor style, where each added difficulty adds to your score, but you get to pick which ones you want to use. Something like this would require rethinking how prestiges are unlocked, though.
ZeppMan217
The perks offset the difficulty brought on by Prestige very well. You gotta remember that players start at Prestige 1 and gradually accumulate perk points as they go up the levels. In addition, since perks are shared between all characters but Prestige is per character, non-Sal runs are further trivialized thanks to the abundance of perks available to the unused characters at Prestige 1.
