Agreed. Same with Wurt's book reading. This is very interesting idea. The storytelling could cost him hunger, so he has to sacrifice something for others to feel good. I wouldn't want to remove this. It is kinda adorable and gets some players together around a campfire. There is beauty for pandering to the masses alright. Though maybe not the beauty you would like. The uncompromising part of Don't Starve has pretty much dissapeared in together, and unless you are very new, there is barely any risk to either your world or your base or your permanent resources (except maybe disease, although that one has its own issues) In regards to the free sanity at night, sanity becomes a trivial step once you get used to it that many are more bothered by the noise multiple Walter make than the free sanity it gives. Don't get me wrong, I do agree the perk should be more costly, something like getting tired after telling stores, or the best alternative, tying it to hunger. But honestly, unless the sanity mechanic gets some kind of revision, I will always glance over small sanity restorations mechanics like this one. Theres no beauty in sabotaging the games origins just to appeal to people who never cared about the game before, especially when they are constantly pandered to, and the original fans of the game arent getting anything. Except for a broken, buggy, unfinished, unfocused, abandoned mess like Hamlet, which still tried to cast a huge, thin net towards casual mega basers (and failed, of course). You're my spirit animal. MondayNight
"Walter can tell stories at the campfire that will cause other survivors to restore some sanity" - imo should be limited to 1 Walter or at least not being cumulative (multiple Walters doing said action). Atm seems excessive in sanity restoration. Also "Restores sanity when near enough trees" is rather superfluous, but hey: most likely the newbies I see in pubs dying a lot from Shadows because of easily getting hurt need it.
