It's based on how long we had to wait since the last update, and the scope of the update, and only the latest update gives points, so if the ARG were to update tomorrow with a smaller update, you'd lose out on the 4 grand and instead only receive <1000 points or so for technically even more work, so I'd hurry and do the ARG if I were you. All the panels on in the Dayside comic, starting with the one immediately before the pipe correspond to a letter. Press the panels in the correct order to write MANIFESTUM, and once you've done that, press the panels to write WAGSTAFF. So if you stay up-to-date and finish each episode before the next one comes out you'll get all the points.
